Re: 回覆: choosing year 11's subjects!

At an open high school there are the regular subject fees but no actual school fees that you pay each year... usually. This is could change from school to school.

In regards to "how do you learn there?": Exactly the same way you would have before! Attend school and learn and do tests etc.

Scaling is not very important. Choose subjects you like first and among subjects that you like, choose the ones that you are best at.

Why does everyone do Ext 1 English and then drop it in Year 12?
because people suddenly realise what a crap subject it is, and so they drop it :)
trust me, adv english has got to be one of the the worst subjects available, ext1 eng just adds to the worseness (cant think of a proper word..)
also if you want to factor in scaling (which you shouldnt, but meh) ext1 english doesnt scale much higher than adv eng, infact its quite the same for a subject that has much higher competent students
also I heard it wasnt exactly harder, its just literally just an 'extension' to the adv english course...
from our school, there was 25 people doing ext1 english in yr 11, 5 people dropped it in the first term, and a further 10 dropped it by yr 12, then 6 of them went on to do ext2 english

Scaling wise, Physics. However, you gotta actually like the course you pick.

Physics is mostly about forces, electricity, waves etc.

Biology is about ecologies, Evolution, cells etc.

However Physics is a much more mathematics based course, so if you're good at maths, Physics should be easier.

well..im doing the stage 5.3 maths..
and i find it easy to understand..
and i have been top 3 constantly..
maybe 4u is the way that i want it.

but if i want to add chemistry.. which subject will u suggest me to drop of my list? [no japanese..becoz japanese is stuck with me]
How are you doing now with science and commerce? Just drop the subject you don't think you'll be particularly good at. Take a look at the syllabuses and talk to the teachers.

This is partially correct.
HSC Physics is more contextual and historical in content.

Physics doesn't have much maths. It's more about understanding concepts than solving problems.

I agree.

A friend of mine did open high school german in yr 9 and 10. If you aren't motivated enough, you won't be able to do well. Open high schooling requires you to make the effort and take initiative. Because she did open high school in yr 9 and 10, she was able to do normal school german again for yr 11 and 12.

uhm. I'm not really sure about HSC open high school ...

Can't you just ask any jap teacher at school? I'm sure they'll be supportive enough to answer questions. If not, maybe a friend in another school that does Jap? Anyone?

If you don't like English then I would highly recommend and deter your from taking English extensions... it's for those good at English and those who enjoy it.

It depends on whether you like english or not. A lot of my friends chose it, and they don't think the workload is worth only just one extra unit. But a lot of people agree that the content is a lot better than english advanced. It's really your choice in the end.
