I love that movie and the area is awesome... except i have a listening task for it tomorrow *sighs

Perhaps you should aim to do something about it in the holidays?
I love the film too, but our class has done very little in the way of studying the topic, and I am at an ends as to how to start writing my first "Conflicting Perspectives" essay. I'm not feeling all that good about English in general these holidays. That, and Physics. All else is good.

I'm planning to do about 8 hours of solid study a day and squish in some tv :)

Maybe a day or two of actually going out, but i'll probably come home and do some work after going out XD

LOL, do what i did - i studied non stop for 2 days before the actual HSC; screwed trials XD
Unfortunately, although i know this would work for me to an extent that I need to catch up marks for ranks in 2unit and get a bigger lead in Extension 1 (so the trials are important).

Oh i see. I somehow managed to keep a decent rank for most of the year with only doing work in class, but you go and extend your lead!

Well currently I am about 5th or 6th out of 9 in 2u :( sucked in the half yearly (oh well) and tie first in extension out of 4 (what a massive cohort for both courses lol)

In order of priority:

- BEGIN and FINISH my Eng Ext2 MW (animation)
- Do my VA assignment
- Finish ALL of my language work - French Beginners (3 units of it), Japanese Continuers (2 units of it) and Japanese extension (5-ish units of it)
- Do some STUDY for the trials (in particular French and Japanese Ext which is right after the holidays)

Knowing how much I procrastinate, I'll be lucky to get half of what I've listed, completed.

I've been going downhill ever since the beginning of Term 2.

Hopefully this is what my standard holiday timetable will be.
Mornings - Piano practice for an hour.
During the day - Working on Modern, Ancient, English notes at the library. Possibly an art essay or two. Might even complete some chapter reviews for maths if I'm really bothered.
Break for lunch. Practice piano some more for a little while after lunch if I'm at home and not the library. I'll go back to making notes and etc. for a few hours after lunch and piano practice.
Afternoons - Visual Arts major works (planning on finishing two or three more paintings these holidays). The plan is to spend 3 to 4 hours every afternoon working on them (4pm til 7 or 8 at night).
Dinner whilst watching Masterchef or observing one of my paintings.
Nights - Piano practice for an hour or two before bed.

Fridays will be painting ALL DAY until about 3pm. Then I'll go to the library and continue with notes for history and English.

Unfortunately I've been neglecting any thought of making history notes because I spend all my spare time working on my major works for art and music.

Sigh.

Although I'm taking Wednesday 15th off to see Harry Potter. Yay!

hey hsc 09'ers

as i wonder the hallways of boredofstudies.com all that seems to come up is either:

- procrastination!!! OMFGGGG:burn: or
- im doin 8 hours a day, im doin 10 hours of study, full hardcoreeee:jedi:

alright...

this must stop lol
nah but seriously this is something you should check out. for all those who do more den 8 hours or do 5 hours straight. THEN STOPPP lol

this information that follows is from Study Hacks which i suggest that you take a look at. its more for university students but by skimming through certain articles and using your imagination you can realte it very much to your own studies.

Anyways:

some of you may thing that -work accomplished = time spent studying
but in fact:

work accomplished = time spent x intensity of focus

FOCUS is the operative word here!!

focus over time (rating focus on a scale of 1 - 10):

hour 1 : 10
hour 2 : 9
hour 3 : 5
hour 4 : 2
hour 5-10 : 1

[For math geeks, this is standard exponential decay.]

So you can see if you are studying 5 hours straight your focus is practically diminished.

but if we spend less time and have more focus, for example:

Intensity of Focus over Time for Short Burst Approach
hour 1 (sat) : 10
hour 2 (sat) : 9
hour 3 (sun) : 10
hour 4 (sun) : 9

Clearly, this work schedule is much less painful. Just two hours at a time. And a whole day separating the two sessions.

In other words, working fewer hours, in a much less painful configuration, the short-burst accomplished more work than the marathon approach. (19% more to be exact)

i could continue but its best if you are interested to read the article:

Study Hacks Blog Archive The Straight-A Gospels: Pseudo-Work Does Not Equal Work

HAPPY STUDYING EVERYONE!

you'll be fine... trust me:rudolf:
