From a youtube vid my brother showed me, downloading 1 gig file only takes approx 5 minutes in korea... how come it takes like... 5 hours here? Is the government restricting some shit so we have to pay moar or is it just that Telstra sucks balls?

Ehh if you have ADSL2 you can download a 1gig file in 20min soo it not impossible.

we're also not as densely populated as korea, therefore our infrastructure and pricing can't match places like korea, japan, etc. because it costs a lot more to cover the same amount of area than in those places.

korea has 3 times as many people in a place the size of victoria. obviously much easier to provide the infrastructure required to provide higher internet speeds
