i was reading a thread before and someone said that its no longer needed to have historiography within the essays, is this true?

I don't think its necessary for you to have historiography, but it is recommended that you do so in order to provide an array of historical perspectives on the issue at hand.

It is definitely necessary if your going for band 5/6 work. Its in the rubric and you need historiography to 'back' a statement or thesis that your making.

Like english, its like making a statement without textual references.

no.... you can still get a band 5 or 6 without historiography but chances are slim
