I am sorry, but i think you have a poor understanding of what a psychopath is and what the army select for. A psychopath isnt what mainstream think they are, very few of them actually kill anyone at all or go on crime sprees, its a clinical diagnosis for a set of abnormal personality traits and behaviour. Usually they are categorised as having little regard for their own safety, have no empathy and are more impulsive. This makes them not only better, cold calculated killers [exactly what you want] but they also excell in management positions in business, team management etc.
Yes, dude, I do know what entails being clinically psychopathic.

And perhaps you lack understanding about military needs for infantry (we're not talking about elite SAS/SEAL/sharpshooter etc units here, which are a totally different ballgame, and what I think you're actually talking about). An infantryman with no regard for their safety is a danger to his squadmates and to the action as a whole. Cold-blooded killers are not what you want in infantry, dude (someone who can develop the emotional distance to kill? Yes, but that's not the same thing). As an assassin maybe, but infantrymen are far more likely to come into contact with enemy non-combatants/civilians, and a soldier who can't distinguist between combatants and non-combatants or doesn't care, in the case of the clinical psychopath, is also a danger to their squadmates and the action.

About who the army select for, I cant show you any proof about this, but for a while i was looking at joining the army as a psychologist and i got pretty far along before i pulled out[basically the guys who give assessments to potential recruits] and I know they dont select against it. Take that however you want because i have nothing to back it up, but the high numbers of people in the defence forces with psychopathic traits seem to support me.
Cite source. And yeah, appeals to authority don't really work on me, considering I was thisclose to joining the military myself, and read a lot of stuff by authors who are vets.

BTW how am i sexist? i said sure let them try out, but that its a rare female indeed who would actually succeed. Thats not sexism, thats just reality.
Because the qualities actually suited to the frontline infantry are alive and well in females. Perhaps not the qualities for elite SAS/etc units as I said earlier, but that's an entirely different kettle of fish.

most combat is conducted at ranges where measurable differences in reflexes would not matter

and since when do men have better accuracy?
Men have a more muscle orientated body mass and hence are able to handle recoil better.

recoil on modern assault rifles like the .223 austeyr is negligible imo

my 50kg gf can shoot a 12g and .30-30 competently, recoil is a non issue m8 unless it is a .338 lapua magnum or something

What about weapons like the SR-25 and M4 that spec ops use? what would recoil be like on them?

Combat shotguns and SMGs have considerable recoil. I was talking about close quarters fighting.

combat shotguns have the same recoil as other 12gs. Like i said, my tiny gf can shoot one pretty well, i dont see it being an issue with practice. SMGs do not have considerable recoil, they are pistol rounds travelling as low velocity lol low recoil is one of their best attributes.

like i said, most combat is not conducted at close range

You haven't seen the countless videos of US troops constantly storming residences? Patrols through towns?

What about machine guns, RPGs and the rocket propelled grenades that M41's have.

lol yeah they still all use m4s etc i think

machine guns, minimis are also .223 and the recoil is manageable for women. the anti tank rockets or whatever we use dont have recoil i think

Most weapons the US army uses are made of synthetics and plastics and the only metal parts are the bolt and barrel.

Our Styer parts are constructed from a company who produce toy tug boats.

I do like your contributions. I am probably just being ignorant, my exposure was probably totally minor compared to general intake. I just know that the area near me does indeed have a "need" for psychopathic traits [whiich can also be pretty hard to detect btw] but they do probably get funnelled to a special intake or dismissed further up the line than i was.

I just remember a lecturer mentioning it, ill look around for a source. Yeah we also probably were looking at different areas in employment.

Yes they are, just less common. That was my point.

recoil =

where Ir is recoil
Vo is velocity of projectile
Mp is mass of projectile
and c is powder charge

very rough equation, doesnt take the weight of the weapon into account or the action or anything

but weight does play an important part and light guns have more recoil than heavier ones.

m4 etc projectiles are 63gn at ~900m/s with like a 23gn powder charge, same with pretty much every assault rifle used these days
