CAFS = COMMUNITY AND FAMILY STUDIES

Basically the course involves you analyzing the community and stuff. Yr 11 is relatively a snore, but it gets better in Yr 12 but you do have a major work an "Individual Research Project". It's good if you wanna look at careers involved with community services etc. Social worker?

"Contemporary society is characterised by rapid social and technological change, cultural
diversity, conflicting values and competitive pressures. Developing understanding about
society and living in society requires a comprehensive knowledge of its complex nature.
Consequently, Community and Family Studies is an interdisciplinary course drawing upon
selected components of family studies, sociology, developmental psychology and
students’ general life experiences. This course focuses on skills in resource management
that enable people to function effectively in their everyday lives, in families and
communities." From the Syllabus

It focus' on the community side of PDHPE. Hence the title.

Try posting this in HSC preliminary courses? idk, you might get a better response there.
Essentially it is based upon community and social groups/organisations.

You get to take a robot baby home as an assessment task!
That's all I remember from the faculty presentation at the end of Year 10. :haha:

Nah i think thats changed. Theres a seperate, non-atar course where you do that.
Why would you want to do that :/ haha.
CAFS is a good subject to study if you are thinking of a Career in Psychology, or HR/Event Management etc..
