Yes, 7 steps to get the cubic into a product of a linear factor (which also happened to be given) and a quadratic. Much faster than long division

That's actually really risky. I've seen a past paper with a question that said "Use the method of long division to..."

What I dislike about questions prescibing a given method is you cannot use a better method.
