can anyone help me understand this event, which I was given as a part of my construction contract studies.

A offered to buy B's car for $1,000. B then sought $1,500 and then A said, " I'll pay $1,250 for it but I must have an answer within a week."

A fornight later B phoned A to say that he would take $1,250. A then said he no longer wanted B's car but B insisted that they "had a deal" which A could not walk away from.

well i think it goes

step 1: agreement which is done.
step 2: consideration which is done.
and then you also have the intention to be legally bound and be able to.

i dont entirely get what your trying to ask. lol more specific perhaps? what about the case?

im not really sure.

I would have thought the contract was not made, because 'intention to create legal relations' was not present (the guy hadnt 'shook' on it yet).

But then again, the clue to me was 'a fortnight later', which suggests that the contract was made, because being a fortnight later would be a voidable voilation.
