I was speaking with my mate discussing how we should approach this paper and it got me thinking what you guys do.
I got my belonging story which is approx 750 words which i can write in about 20-25 minutes. Should i knock that off first? or do short answers which will take me no more then 30 minutes.
Which will give me time to write my approx 1300word belonging essay... hopefully.

Doesn't really matter what order, but i yeah i suggest doing your AOS last because it will take you the longest.

I do my creative first, then my essay and then the reading section because i hate it so much.
Timing is approximately 25min:45min:50min for me XD

No, it should take you no more than 30 mins.

But i really, really, really hate the reading section so i put it off. I usually have extra time to check everything anyway lol.

I generally do:
Essay
SA
Creative

I do the Essay first because it takes longest, and I know it best, so I often add an extra 5 mins to it. It also gets me into the swing of writing about belonging, because once I finish it I'm so releaved the hardest part is over.

SA next...bloody hate SA

Creative last, because, as said above, you can wrap it up quite easily if you run out of time. And because creative is usually stream of consciousness (you don't paticularly have to recall anything too mind boggling), you write faster and easier, so you get it done quicker.

Its best to do creative writing first because you should have the whole story in your head already and the question really wont change your story to much. It will probably just ask you to add an item or a scenario into your story.

You should read the questions to your AOS and Creative writing in your reading time really quickly so you can have it in the back of your head what changes you may need to make and then for the rest of the reading time read through your comprehension stuff (especially if there is a long reading thing) and try and answer the comprehension stuff in your head so you can quickly write them down once you start (just to get a few easy marks)

lastly do your AOS because it will take the longest and if you run out of time you can kinda keep writing coz you can just say you are finishing a sentence or writing your name on it or something :p

good luck.

Do your creative first? thats a load of crap

For belonging, the exam is in an order to help get your mind juices flowing on the concept of belonging

If you do it in the order of the exam, short answer then creative, then your essay
You should be able to do creative in 30-35 minutes as is, leaving you additional time for your essay/short answer. If you finish the essay early, you can go back and do short answer, else just use the additional time to read through everything

During reading time, you want to read the questions, skim over the texts, and then try and find techniques and quotes that you'll use

in the 10 min reading time i read all the texts for SA
then i do that for about 20- 25 mins then stop
then do creative writing and then the essay.. sometimes order changes around to how well my prepared answers fit in..
then if i have time i go back to SA to make it sound a bit more decent.

Waste of reading time imo if you don't do reading task first
This is how I see it.

If you read the texts through the reading time and jump into creative/essay, then you have to waste time reading them again - at least for me I wouldn't be able to remember much of them

I use the reading time to plan my essay and the rest of the time is spent reading the texts. Even though i do the reading task last I seem to remember them anyway ^^

In the reading time how about. 1-2 minutes reading the creative and essay questions. Then the rest read the texts get the techniques and notions of belonging. That will cut you down time.

My teacher always told us to do our essay first.

So, for my trial, I did my essay, comprehension and the creative writing.

Or, if there is some UBER long text for comprehension, then I'll read that first. It all depends on what works for you.

I do the short answers in 20 mins, then the essay in an hour and then the short answers in 40 mins.

People always wonder why I do the SA in so short a time, but I don't know how. I got 14/15 in the trials. That damn irony question stuffed me up.

I think the BOS has specialised the Exam in a way that stimulates our minds to function in accordance with shortest to longest. i.e. SA, Creative Writing (3 pages max) and then essay.

Despite their efforts in aiding us students to operate in ways based on the majority of students in the state, we all have our different ways.

Like, I tend to do the SA, essay and then creative writing.

Reading time is utilised in quickly having a look at essay question and creative writing and then finally SA. I do this because when reading stimilus material you can get ideas in your mind and this saves time and makes your story more creative than the one you had pre-planned.

But pre-plannig a story doesn't always work, coz they might ask you for a speech or the like, and hence my recommendation is to be prepared for anything - don't expect the question to suit your response + having a pre-planned story may mean having only one type of text in mind. They may ask you for even a letter or something and this may lead to self-destruction by the end of the exam.

G'Luck!

SA (35) then essay (45) then creative (35). The other 5 mins is for fart arsing around, thinking of things to write, and giving the hand a quick rest.

Personally I'd do the comprehension questions first because they usually take the quickest and then you have an idea of how much time you have left. Then you should do the essay as you need the most time for this and should write to the question and not the time limit. Leave your creative story last so if you're running out of time you can adapt your story and this is the easiest to do.
