pit bull control etc is in the news again so i thought this would be a good time to show how smrt i am

"should need a licence for any type of dog
and like gun licences you must have a valid reason for having one
and like gun licences only certain dogs would satisfy certain reasons
like for companionship, only well tempered dogs etc would be allowed
for work, only smart, working dogs would be allowed
shit dogs that dont fit any criteria well enough should be banned"

seems pretty straight forward way to police dogs etc. handled the same way dog registration etc is now, through local council. apply for a licence, for a fee of course, with your valid reason and you can get a dog. fuck up and abuse the dog etc and you licence can be revoked, for a period of time or forever, whateva.

a list would have to be compiled (by scienctists and vets and animal behaviour experts and me), outlining which dogs were suitable for which purposes, obviously some breeds would satisfy all (kelpies), some would satisfy none (pitbulls)

if anyone can fault me, please do so

if not i am submitting this idea to the Mr PRIME MINISTER

I am pretty sure that my IQ is well over 116 because I don't own a pitbull ok. Basically anyone who owns a pitbull has an IQ under like, at least 105 therefore anybody under 120 shouldn't be allowed to have one therefore nobody with an IQ > 120 will want one of those shitty dogs and so they'll die out

My logic is flawless

Just shoot all the pitbulls and everyone's happy, k.
Justifying why you have a dog is a stupid idea, as is paying for a license.

HOW IS IT?

2 reasons why you are wrong and probably dumb

- the owners of pit bulls will not be happy
- why is it stupid? paying for a licence is a great idea, it will cause a reduction in the cost of registration of your dog so you arent paying any more money.

I don't think the pitbulls are the problem. They are a difficult breed that requires experienced owners, responsible breeding and proper training, not being exterminated because they're seen as fighting dogs and abused/not trained properly. Do we exterminate maltesers for being most likely to bite litte kids? Do we exterminate rotties for being seen as junk-yard dogs and again not being trained?

I can agree with getting licenses for dogs, and alright if they want to classify specific breeds as dangerous, and have special rules if its to protect everyone.
But banning a breed just because a few dogs from that breed where brought up wrong and mistreated, attacked someone, is completley stupid and it doesn't fix the problem.

I own an American Staffie, so you wanna take my dog off me because she's classified as dangerous and your scared she's going to kill someone?
If there's reason to believe that the dog is a danger by all means do so with proof, but just because the breed is believed to be dangerous doesn't make it that.

The whole pitbull/staffie rep is complete bullshit and anyone who can't see that has to open their mind and see that what the media writes isn't always right, and should research the facts.

Pitbulls/staffies just like EVERY other dog, they can be dangerous if they are taught the wrong things. But they also can be the most loyalest and friendliest dogs you'll ever meet.

I don't take my dog for a walk to places where i know there's going to be more then a few people because i don't want to run into some asshole who will insult me for loving the breed when they think it's 'dangerous' without knowing facts. Also because of the fact that when she meets new people all she wants to do is play, and she will run up and get excited and it's pretty obvious that if some random seen a staffie running at them they would freak out. I understand that because of what the media portrays them as, but i also know my dog would never hurt someone, but i'd never risk taking her off the leash because of how people react to her breed and other breeds that are similar.

So please, do the world a favour, get the facts before you make a judgement.
Im not trying to start a fight either im just stateing my opinion, im not here to have a arguement because i can't just change the way someone see's something if they are too stubborn to learn about what they talk about.

You're all missing the point.

Sure, other dog breeds might be aggressive

the problem is that pitbulls are biologically adept at killing, so when they do go off, they fuck you up

a lab might be aggressive but if it attacks you, you can probably have a good chance of fending it off

if a pitbull, or any large 'attack' dog, attacks you, you are kind of fucked, they are amazingly powerful. most other large dogs have much better temperments then pitbulls though so it isnt as much of a problem. A full grown wolfhound WILL kill you, but because of their temperment, they rarely, if ever (like ever) attack humans.

I am around a lot of large and potentially dangerous breeds, such as mastiffs, ridgebacks, german sheps, staghounds, pitbulls, staffies, various crosses of each. all are large and powerful enough to kill boars. the thing is, most have good temperments and are extremely friendly with humans, if they werent they could easily kill you. pitbulls imo do not have such a good temperment

When I was younger, we owned a Rottie. Because of the reputation, we made sure she was the best-bloody trained dog in the entire area. Forreals, she could have been a service dog.

Didn't stop the caretaker of the school next door accusing her when he was attacked by a stray dog, even though she was asleep inside at the time.

But you see, thats where YOU don't get the point.
You just said that your around all those breeds, and still say that pitbulls are more risky.

What they are taught by someone else, will reflect how the act. If they are taught to be aggressive, thats what they will do. It'd the same for humans, if parents teach kids to be little shits, chances are they'll have little respect for anyone.

SO i have to ask, what do you do for a living? do you deal with troubled animals? because i'd see that as an obvious answer to why you think they are so much more dangerous. Or maybe your a vet? and then im not sure why you would think they are all more dangerous just because a few were taught badly.

Just because you've seen so many of that breed be dangerous doesn't make the other 99.90% the exact same now does it?
If it does in your mind your being ignorant and stereotyping just like the media.

Its determined on how the dogs bought up. Actually the licensing to own a certain breed of dog makes sense. (A license for any dog would be better, stop fuckwits owning dogs, getting them pregnant and dumping them somewhere.)

I've had a blue heeler, two rottis and maltese X, and none of them were dangerous. Hell, my baby brother grabbed one of the Rotti's ears and all it did was lick his face until he let go.

Its all about the upbringing of the dog.

I am civil engineer. I use various large dogs to hunt. In my experiences with many of these dogs, all treated differently, pitbulls have a terrible temperment in general, compared to other breeds. The other breeds might be as strong and agressive in certain situations, but pitbulls in my experiences are far worse with humans and other animals.

I cannot be fucked dragging up statistics and research on pitbull temperment because you are a moron, but i believe they would support my argument. you are free to provide them if you believe they will support yours, but i know you wont

I am not talking training you dolt, even after a dog is trained, they still maintain the characteristics and temperment of that breed to an extent. And it is well documented that pitbulls have generally worse temperments than most other breeds, owing to the fact that they have been bred to be aggressive, powerful, fighting dogs

why is that so hard to understand?

Which is why where you source your pet from is very important. Pedigree show lines that have never been used in dogfighting are the only ones I would trust. Dogs rescued from fighting rings? No way Jose - and same goes for labs, dobermans, rotties, and other big dogs with big teeth.

which is why they should have to have licences to have a dog and can only have a dog if they have a legitimate reason

and stuff
