Guys for Question 27 C GUYSMary has the better chance of winning let me explain this to youMary has 2/100 tickets which is 1/50 which is 2 percent. Jane has 1/100 + 1/100 so she also has 2 percent chanceHOWEVER the question states determine the better chacne of winning AT LEAST one PRIZEso there for mary still has a 2/100 chance of winning at least one prize and also 98/100 to LOSEJANE HOWEVER has 1/100 to win 1st raffle and 99/100 to lose the 2nd raffle is the same 1/100 to win and 99/100 to loseBUT JANE U MUST CALCULATE HER CHANCE OF WINNING AT LEAST 1 prize so it is1/100 x 99/100 + 1/100 x 99/100 WHICH EQUAL to 1.98% of her winningso therefore MARY HAS a 2 % chance of winning while jane has a 1.98 chance of WINNING AT LEAST ONE PRIZEand i am 99% sure this is the correct answer let me know what u guys think</SPAN> .............OK THERE IT IS !!!

Simplify 5-2(x+7)

= 5-2x-14
= -9-2x

this cannot be simplified any further, as it did not state (Find the value of x, nor did it state that (5-2(x+7)=0), therefore no value can be placed for x

I also had 8am on Thursday on the other question

Yeah drawing a table for the last question would have clarified it for many people.

They were not all equal out comes.. It was the DIFFERENCE.

Eg, if a 1 and a 4 were rolled the differnce would have been 3.. and so on.

You then had to add up the amount of times each number came up (from 1-5) by placing it over 36 and multipling by 18.

e.g. if the difference of 0 came up 8 times then it would be 8/36 X 18 = 4

You then had to compare it to the two experiments, experiment 2 showed the least differences. Therefore the guy was right.

Yer, thats exactly what I did!
Not sure that experiment 2 showed the least difference though. I put it for my answer but I was still so doubtful. O well, regardless I'll get marks for my working :)

Ok, i have a query for Question 23cii).

i) Find the area of the terrace.

...... = 13.77m2

ii) Tiles are sold in boxes. Each box holds one square metre of tiles and costs $55. When buying the tiles, 10% more tiles are needed, due to cutting and wastage.
Find the total cost of the boxes of tiles required for the terrace.

So you go 13.77 + 10/100x13.77 = 15.147m2.
So this means that they need 16 boxes, not 15, as it's more than 15 and they can't buy part of a box.

Am i correct..?

yes that is all correct

although i put down 16 boxes technically, i also put or 15 boxes to save some wastage.

Sweeeeet.

What about Question 25b):

'The mass of a sample of microbes is 50mg. There are approximately 2.5x10^6 microbes in the sample.

In scientific notation, what is the approximate mass in grams of one microbe?'

Sooo i went; 50mg / 2.5x10^6
Which gave me 1 / 50000 ; the mass of ONE microbe in mg.
Then as it said give the answer in grams ; i went 1 / 50000 divided by 1000.
Which gave me 1 / 50000000.
Which is, in scientific notation, 2x10^-8

Anyone else get this..?
