Umm nah. I had a brief glance. I think the average was like high 50s. Band E4 cut off is mid 70 i reckon for that.
If we're talking about mid 70s out of 120, and the trend is stable and continues onto this year, then alright, sounds good. :)

trend should remain i reckon.

However, from the stats I got, I noticed that the avereage is getting higher every year -__-

does this sound reasonable:

according to namu, cutoff will be mid 50s, lets assume 54...
according to lazaurus, the distribution of marks is linear within each band

if 54 raw = 90 HSC and 84 raw = 100 HSC then every 3 raw marks = 1 HSC mark?

54:90
57:91
60:92
...
75:97
78:98
81:99
84:100

or am i just being stupid...

I used to believe that people on this site were generally good at 3 unit and the rest of the state was not. This faith has been ruined by all the people saying how hard the test was.
Not that I've done any more than one past paper, but I've seen questions from throughout the years and our paper today was incredibly easy in comparison.

In past, the average mark for 3 unit is around high 30s and I doubt it would have risen that much even though this year's paper is considered "easy".
Wow!! That makes me feel 100x better about my shocking estimate of around 40/84. (47.6%). So I guess I'm better than average, somehow.

Just goes to show that the people here at BoS are much smarter than the average NSW-student lol.

Perceived averages are highly inflated, especially among the top end.
Most students over-estimate the abilities of the state. Also, as mentioned, BoS mainly attracts the more higher ended students, as evident by the amount of accelerants and students sitting 'higher order' subjects and students from selective schools. I mean, why would an average student bother going on a forum with a bunch of nerds - the internet was designed for facebook and porn, not study :p

Anyway, I still think that the cutoff should be in the 50s. I don't think it'll be like 2001 where it goes down to the 40s and referring to some of the earlier posts, the board doesn't have a set amount of students it wants in each band. It determines a level which is the standard and then they take it from there.

This was a crap exam. Where was the easy circle geo.
q7 and q6 pretty bad. q5 that was good.
I’m idiotic for q4 (i got the probability wrong as i didn’t * by the () coefficient)
q 1 to 4 should be a piece of cake.

i think about 50/84. Could i just make it into e4 and what kind of a scaled mark do you think that would be /50

I really hope you're right; haha nerds, and proud of it!

But quick query; even if the cut-off is mid-50s, is it still possible to get an e4 if I got ~52/84 in the hsc, and my overall assessment mark is ~42/50. I was soooo counting on a b6 in 2&3unit. Boo hoo :(

Okay I just took another look at my exam paper.

At worst (and I mean if I got no partial marks for any questions that I'm unsure), I should get around 50/84...come to think of it, give or take 5 for silly mistakes ><

what would the qualify for?

i know!! even a hard circle geo (that last thing didn't count - was stupid cause i didn't like it).

i can like guarantee four marks if there's a proper circle geo, but no. screw you bos. just for that reason. no other. aha.

hmm why is the cut-off for E4 seem so low from everyone's posts >.>.

Its so low that everyone would get band 6's and barely any band 5s and 4s to give out..

Wishful thinking?

I know I'm in that boat.
