Well heard some people are doing - or someone is doing 16 units, and another person was doing or still is doing 20 units so... wtf.

Generally do smart people (people with high UAI) do around 1o-11 units? Whilst the people who are going to fail do like 25 units?

I think theres a higher percentage of people with 11+units in the 95+ range.

I'm content with 10units...

i did 14 but ended up regretting it ><

along with my current subjects, i also had physics. chem, physics and 3u maths demand a lot of work if u intend on keeping urself at the top of the class, and u end up having to decrease time spent on other subjects.

but wtf anyone who wants to do more than 15 is just insane, the teachers at our school didnt let us do more than that!

some ppl also do accelerant courses so thats what they might mean by 20 units? =S maybe theyve done some exams already

Yeah, those who have completed 20 units of HSC courses must have done a fair amount of units by accelerating in those courses and then taking on other courses. There have only been a few who have done this and i hear there was a guy who did this and got 100 UAI sometime ago.

The ones who get UAIs over 90+ in the past from HSC statistics have been students who have taken 10-12 units percentage wise.

You dropped something? What did you drop? How long did you keep 14 units for?

I'm doing 14 units so far but from stories i've heard it's not a very good idea, and i've finally been able to work out what i might want to drop. So it's been 2 weeks with 14 units for me and i get no free periods and i have class outside school hours. I will definitely drop something after consulting with my careers adviser/teachers.

same, i had no "study periods" (as we all should call them =p=p) at all up until my half yearlies. i dropped physics right after the half yearlies (which i didnt do too bad in considering i hadnt studied at all hahahaha)

just drop whichever you like the least/most time consuming/worst subject.

i also dropped english extension at the end of year 11, cos i had to pick up music 2 extension. i woulda had 15 if i hadnt. but i kinda regret it cos i was actually good at and liked ext eng...

i did the equivalent of 14 units for the past year cause my accelerated subs count as double and absolutely hated the pressure of so many units- lucky my SOR 2 teacher was so flexi and didn't care too much about the prelim.

this year i'll be doing the equivalent of 10 units and i cannot wait :D (mayb 12)

all up thats 12 (mayb 14) units depending on how i went in hsc

I'm doing 16 for now, but would drop Physics due to advice from my Careers Adviser. So that'll be soon. This should've been a poll in my opinion.

Started with 14, but dropped Chem and I'm dropping Ancient History on Monday.

Gives me more time to pop pills and rave around the playground.

i don't think my 13 units would be stressfull at all....if our school timetable didn't change last year from 13 to 12 units!!!! i have no frees and 7:45 starts twice a week :( i hear they might be going back to 13 for next year's year 11s :mad1:

my friend is doing 14 units on our 12 unit timetable, and he got 2 units of frees! they screwed up his timetable so bad they gave him permission to teach himself one of the computer subjects, i can't remember which, and just check in whenever he can with that teacher. some people have all the luck :(

I do 13 I'm finding the workload fine. The exams timetable is fine (except for a triple day where I have Economics, 3U English and Modern History back to back to back).

Yeh, I do 14 units too and I'm not planning on dropping anything. I love all of me subjects and I like to keep my options open. I want to be an artist or an engineer or maybe even an author. Also if I choose art as a career I'd want to see teh nice landscapes of China as well. Or maybe a combination... like arts/ engineering...

I'm quite indecisive so can't decide yet.

I'm doing 14 units. Since Maths Ext 2 is in the bag with those units, it is imperative that i drop. I'm thinking I'll hard out and attempt to survive with 14 units until the first assessments, which at my school are all around week8-9 for each subject. Holidays would be a great time to decide what to drop, and what is bringing the lowest marks. Anyway, i believe anything over 14 units requires an insane amount of dedication to study, and those people are likely to burn out sooner or later.

I did 15 in my prelim year. This year, I've dropped economics and taken on 4U english. So still doing 14 units.

BEST CHOICE OF MY LIFE HOWEVER!!

Ext 1 and 2 English have less class time together than economics, which gives me a few frees a week. Because I love English so much, it's not very stressful for me.

So, bottom line is?

A few extra units don't hurt. And if they're extension units, and you learn how to balance everything out, it can work out really well. :) I like the security of knowing that if something goes drastically wrong in my HSC year and I bum out on a subject or two, I'll have back-up. :)
