instead of writing the extended equation for the reduction of the maganese oxide


can u just write Mn4+ + 2e- -> Mn2+ ??

i'd write the whole thing. how much time are you going to save? 5 seconds?

but if you have trouble remembering it then its another story.

Zn(s) -> Zn2+ + 2e-

Cathode:
2MnO2(s) + 2NH4+(aq) + 2e- -> Mn2O3(s) + H2O(l) + 2NH3(aq)

Huh,
i thought the cathode reaction was:

NH4^+4 + MnO2 + H20 + e^- ---------> MN(OH)3 + NH3

The conquering chem textbook has the one i memorizes :)
