If you're intelligent enough it's not very hard to get 99+. 93 aligned in every subject is a more than realistic aim for a lot of people.
There are people that I know, that expect to get 99.95 and 80% chance they will. When you're averaging ~98% in all your subjects it's virtually a given you'll get 99.9 MINIMUM.

True that ive met one and yeah he's got a life thats for sure. The thing that amazes me though is that when you speak to them about studies or something, they are pretty frank about it but my gosh are they organised.

I'm not saying it's not possible but I think alot of people on this forum take it for a lot less than what it is - as in - they're not aware how hard it actually is. It's not easy, don't tell me it is, you have to put in a fair amount of effort unless you're one of those rare people who sits in class and understands everything 100 percent.
I reckon ~15, 10 is a bit low to be frank. We got 8/23 100s last year, and there are 45-50 99.95s. 15 is a reasonable guess. Also maths isn't really required to get 99+. I know a guy in my school that does no maths and his estimate is 99.45 and another girl that does no maths and is on 99.2. I've known people that have gotten 99.95 wilout maths and they did it quite easily.
I've met quite a few and indeed they are normal people. One was our Vice-Captain a few years back, and a lot were prefects and stuff. One of the 100s I know took a gap year to join the navy.
It's not that hard. I mean seriously, you're telling me you cannot get a scaled aggregate of ~448 with 3-4 hours of work a night? Maybe I overestimate the general state's intelligence level, but it doesnt seem that hard. 99+ isn't a difficult mark to get, it's the 99.85+ marks that are difficult due to the near perfection required in said cases to achieve those marks.
Trust me you do. It's a lot easier in Ruse to get that because lets face it, more than half of your grade will do it. In other selective/high ranked private schools, its about 10-15% and then you get a few people every now and then for lower schools.
I sorta agree, actually. 99+ is certainly doable with 3-4 hrs a day because this is, in my opinion, an adequate amount of time required to consolidate the day's learning at school or to study ahead. I think it is the procrastination that people cannot resist.
That's so true. However, somehow, the general 99+ cut-off is not really changing much from year to year so the amount of work required to achieve 99+ is predictable. Certainly, one can, with 3-4 hrs of studying a night, achieve 99+, assuming average intelligence (btw, just to avoid confusion, by intelligence, I don't mean the ability to memorise. The ability to memorise is rather a skill that develops through consistent study, IMO) and little procrastination (which not many can resist, IMO).
But it would prob. get you a combined med interview @usyd etc, which is helpful.
I guess Unis would care until you got in. After that they stop worrying about your UAI and start worrying about your grades in Uni. I guess the only reason I really want 99.95 is $10,000 scholarship a year at UNSW to do Comm/Eco.
