2000 yrs ago, they grew grapes on the banks of the thames, it is too cold to do that now...

This is where i get religious on you, Jesus will come again before its a problem!
Is this your great scientific comeback to the notion that we have little to lose by making ourselves carbon neutral? That the risks involved are unacceptably large?

Becouse they don't, climate change physicists working at ANSTO released a study that basically showed that global warming is bunk!

Global warming is media beat-up.

No research scientist I have spoken to in real life belives in global warming (and given that my father was a research scientist, i know quite a few)
I went to ANSTO. The guy tried to put in a word about how Rudd is the apocalypse and how it wasnt like this in the Howard, in every opportunity he got. He also spent the last part of the tour to show us how global warming is not happening.
They are just pissy because they are losing thier jobs.

Quoting Tony Abbott is shameful. Really. Seriously, stop and look at Abbott, and look at yourself.

Why does government politics always have to get in the way of hard decisions that need to be put in place. I hate all climate change sceptics. Get it through your thick heads, climate change is a serious problem and through increased human development and expansion it is only going to get worse. We need to act independently from other nations and implement some sort of ETS or scheme. Why Does Australia have to be a sheep all the time and follow other nations. If we act they can follow. They better come to an agreement in Copenhagen that is all i can say. I used to support Liberal but im Labour all the way now!

Just a guess, but it might have something to do with Australia not being a one-party dictatorial state.

Because I enjoy my extravagantly selfish and materialistic lifestyle and am not willing to sacrifice this without watching everyone else do it first.

If we act they can follow. They better come to an agreement in Copenhagen that is all i can say.
If we act they won't even know about it. Australia doesn't count for shit at anything except sports, which isn't necessarily the greatest thing.

I used to support Liberal but im Labour all the way now!
You're also a simpleton. Congratulations.

Was quite upset about this, but I guess it's good for the party in the long term that Hockey didn't get the job.

Anyway, we're all postulating here, Abbot could be, doubtful though it may be, the best thing to happen to the Liberal party.

Abbott's closer to the party line from what I have seen.

This should not be a debate about climate change it should be a debate about the best way to address climate change. The CPRS/ETS proposed by the ALP is clearly not the best way to address the problem, the Libs need to make this the focus of the debate.

We need to act independently from other nations and implement some sort of ETS or scheme. Why Does Australia have to be a sheep all the time and follow other nations. If we act they can follow.
You do realise that going it alone would cripple our economy and have no real effect on global warming????

They better come to an agreement in Copenhagen that is all i can say.
Don't worry we will pass the message on for you. I take it we can assume that the consequences for world leaders personally will be dire... perhaps you will bash them?

I used to support Liberal but im[sic] Labour all the way now!
This nicely underscores your misunderstanding of the key issues.

abott being a fundie aside, as long as he's not going to support Rudd's nation-bankrupting legislation, then I'm satisfied (as satisfied as I'm going to be with a mainstream politician anyway)

All I'm seeing is people saying they'll vote for Labor, Liberal or the Greens. I'm taking the Christian Democrats as a joke since well honestly they're worse than Family First. What I want to know is why everyone seems to only vote for the major parties and claim they'll be best for their electorate, why aren't Independents best for your electorate? The major parties look out for the parties interest rather than the people's interest. So why do you keep perpetuating the two-party(or 3 party system if you count The Greens as a major party). With a mix you're going to see a country run more politically but better because they're looking for POSITIVE change, rather than just looking out for the corporations.

lesser of two evils, etc etc

ie. I'd love to see the liberal democratic party in power (awesome classical liberal/libertarian party) but they're lucky to get like 1% of the vote so I'd rather use my vote to help keep Labour out of power by helping a liberal get across the line
