...and I figured I'd use it on HSC books.

After procuring the Excel HSC Physics Book (hehehe), I'm left with MX1, MX2, Chemistry and the Englishes without any study guides. My teacher already told me to get the Excel Legal Studies book which I did, so yes.

I assume that getting the Advanced English study guide whether it be Macquarie or Excel is not a good purchase? Then I have MX1 and MX2 - which I'm leaning towards, especially MX2, because I already have the Fast Track MX1.

Yes, I could go to the Sell forums and take one cheaply - but I'd not have a use for my gift card... and with my EX2 reading list piled so high, I won't even bother attempting to read a book for my personal pleasure...

Anyone have any suggestions for any books I should buy, preferrably for Chemistry, English (if I must), MX1 and MX2?

Well, I already have both "good" MX2 textbooks: Cambridge and Fitzpatrick, along with Fitzpatrick 3u.

Maybe I should lean toward a purchase for Chemistry, then?

Why exactly are the study guides for maths money grabs? I assume it's because of vague examples, and the lack of questions, or something like that?

For maths there is barely any questions, and only way to maths is practice questions over and over again. They know if they make a guide that looks small all those people who haven't studied, done hw etc, will be like shit and think by using the study guide they can improve their marks.

Study guides are good for other subjects like HISE and Sciences, they can also be good for english.

Most of the subjects forums already have multiples threads (including stickies) dedicated to discussing the available textbooks/study guides and sharing opinions/recommendations. Check these out and if you have any further questions feel free to post them in the existing threads, or a new one if you can't find one for a particular subject.
