So your basically saying that because science courses are deemed more difficult (hence higher scaling) it should not be allowed an extension?

In that case, we should cancel the math and english extensions cause there 2 unit subjects have high scaling and introduce 4 unit dance and Hospo so we can cater to the minority...
Extension science:

The students must learn two option topics from either the chemistry, physics, biology or earth syllabus. The chosen options must not be the options learnt in the 2 unit course and must be from two different subjects, ie you may not choose 2 chem electives.

In order two persue an option topic, the student must be doing the 2 unit course. This therefore restricts the subject to those doing at least 4 units of science (excluding senior).

In addition, the student will endeavor on a major work, going throgh the stages of scientific investigation in greater detail then the junior course. There chosen topic must be relevant to the hsc courses they are enrolled in and of an advanced level.

I'll give you "throgh" as a typo but it's very hard to take you seriously when, although attempting to articulate your points with a degree of sophistication, you still have worse english than a primary school student.

haha, when ever someone has to resort to using someones spelling and grammar as reason against their points, its obvious they have nothing more to say.

Your right, im not the best speller in the world cause im more of a science/maths person. Get back to your humanities where you can speak to other people of similar english standards as you.

Also, the internet is srs business.

:)
But definitely would love an astronomy or cosmology course.
1. Cosmology is distinct from astronomy - cosmology tends to be less of an exact science, despite mathematics being involved. Astronomy is almost (but is not) applied physics, and that's what astronomers study at uni: Bachelor of Science (Physics)+ Master of Physics + Doctor of Philosophy (Applied Physics) :)

2. Astronomy should be available because it is a separate branch of science to physics... and it is quite specialised! Agreed that it should be available, soooo hope that PM Rudd's National Curriculum introduces it.....

P>S: National Curriculum 2011-2012 has a website where the public can write submissions on content of courses and propose courses that do not already exist (within common sense, no "Sexual mechanics" courses please :p) lol

I never said your points were wrong. Just, your posts were painful to read. Yeah, but internet lingo is like shortening words and making up shit so it's less effort.

oh haha my bad, just didn't see any other reason to point out my shit spelling =D

And i think the biggest reason there isnt a science extension is unlike history, all the science subjects dont have a common.

Sure, there could be a research project, but when it comes to teaching option topics most schools wouldn't have enough people doing the subject to justify a teacher for each extension and having a class of 5 or so students needing to be taught up to 10 different topics is just way to much to ask of a teacher.

I am well aware of the difference between cosmology and astronomy.

There was a extension 4unit for science before, and basically it just combined all 6 units of science, phy, chem and bio into 4units. Apparently it was extremely difficult to complete and hence scrapped.
I remember that course as it was the 1st Level course when I did the HSC before units came in. I didn't do having the greatest delight of my life at that time in tearing up four years worth of Science notes on the afternoon after my Science SC exam - three lever arch files full of notes plus five exercise books (we were examined on all four years work back then by the way). It was the last time I did any Science and I haven't regretted it a day since.

There is what...bio, chem, physics, senior science, earth and environmental........considering the difficulty of some of these, why should there be an extension course?

Because some people don't find them difficult, the same with math's and english extension courses.

Theyre as difficult as extension maths.

What do you honestly suggest would be acceptable as an extension science course?

The regular science courses are built for university.........

like wot da hell else could u put in a course

I don't think there should extension for each science but rather an extension science itself. As in focusing on literally "the science" behind science, about experiments and their purposes. I know it sounds like basic SC experiment knowledge, but i mean in a much greater and advanced level.

Hardcore SCIENCE LOL

Or even philosophy as a normal course?

I may not be an accelerated student but i think i could have handled the course. I've read some of the past paper and the topics and questions seem really intriguing and intellectual. Of course you may have to get your schools approval but having philosophy as a standard course would have been awesome.

They are no where near as hard as ex1 maths

HSC science is nothing like university science.
They are not built for universty at all.
They should introduce extension sciences that are similar to uni science.

"built"being in preparation for....quite obviously...

They're not at all difficult, theyre 'as' difficult as ext. maths.
i found em all easy actually.

Seriously.............ext 2 mathematics isnt the same as university level mathematics.........just as science isnt.

why dont they introduce an ext 3 maths?

Going with the whole accelerated courses and university level idea, why not introduce 2 new 'extension' science subjects:

Geophysics - (for physics and earth people, has actual mathematical physics)
Biochem - (for biology and chemistry students)

Why should there be?
If you math kids practically get to learn the majority of first year uni in 4 unit why should it be different for other subjects?

And about your 5 unit idea, they probably dont have it as it would most certainly induce suicide.
