Yeah because that's heaps interesting and all.......... >.<
I thought it was alright. Instrumentalism vs. Realism and all.

I mean it leads to interesting debates in quantam theory and other cutting edge research in science.

The problem i see with a Science extension course is that all the disciplines are quite disparate - whereas in history the methods/research/thinking is common.

But for comparison's sake - if History Extension is essentially the philosophy of history, then I can't see why Science Extension wouldn't mirror that, in being the philosophy of science.

Make cosmology an extension course.
Its unfair that it's not available to everyone.

i find eco piss easy but alot of the state finds it hard, so your argument is out the door.

Come on, to the majority of people the hardest subjects are the best scaling.

You have to remove the talented people with a certain flair or passion for a subject like yourself.

Not everyone would be able to do it. I had a large amount of trouble understanding the notions they put forward in the last ~3 modules. It's just not a feasible addition.

Not everyone can do 4unit maths either.
Just because an asian had trouble with it doesn't mean it shouldn't be available.

Exactly, if we only had 3 unit maths right now, everyone baging the ext science idea would be saying the same for the idea of 4 unit maths.

Um...what does being Asian have anything to do with it?

The cosmology topics ARE hard, as are the Philosophy topics. Most students wouldn't be able to deal with it.

Also, the raw marks for both distinction courses were very, VERY low. The reason it does so well is that the aligning is really good and the scaling even better.

If most of the state did it, aligning and scaling would both go down - hence eradicating the very reasons ppl (apart from those with a geniune interest) would do it in the first place.

Exactly. It aligns, and scales, more than 4 unit maths. Everybody doing it would make the course pointless, and ruin it for the people who are doing it for interest. It's a Catch-22.

I side with jetblack2007 and wendybird on this. The courses with amazing scaling are extremely hard courses and not any average person can tackle them. Sure, anyone could give them a go but it requires persistence, work ethic and a whole lot of understanding.

there were a fair few proposed, not sure exactly what all of them were
I've had a phone call with BOS and they told me their ideas for the new courses. I was quite impressed (don't know whether I can say these ideas) though they've had a great amount of trouble trying to get universities onboard.

Sounds exciting!

I'm quite impressed with the BOS tbh. They cop alot of flack, but they've been good to me - I know I wouldn't have had as much fun or as interesting a courseload had i done the IB (its quite rigid in its own way).

The only problem is that Universities are saying no.

We should get a group together and help bos. We can't just let them stop altogether.

I think we need to work out the Universities' motivations for saying no. (Probably monies.)

I mean, you remember that accelerant a few days ago who said his brother was 16 and in 2nd year uni.

Ahahaha you think JetBlack is asian? FAIL.

Also seeing as you're acting so cocky and demanding such difficult subjects to be available to all, may i ask you what your results were for the HSC?

I am siding with Jetblack + wendybird + Aquawhite on this matter.
