A long jumper left the ground at and angle of 15 degrees and jumped a distance of 7.0m. considering this result, calculate the velocity of the loing jumper when leaving the ground.
please help. XD

Sx = (u^2 sin2θ) / g

7 = u^2 sin30deg / 9.8

so u=12m/s (approximately)

I didn't use a calculator so I may be a bit off.

thanks alot. is it possible to work out the solution by deriving the time first?

i don't think we can find time in this case...you can use a bit of maths to solve for the original velocity though...

All your ways of solving it looked kinda funny, so I used the equation from the syllabus. v^2=u^2+2*a*s

Substitute all of the numbers in and you'll get 11.71 something and I think that should be the right answer.
