So in 2009 i accelerated in Information Processes and Technology (IPT) and for 2010 i am doing 11 units.

If i drop a 2unit subject (so i will be doing 9 units in 2010) will i be able to receive an ATAR ? (Yes, i know i can receive a HSC).

Thanks

you only need a total of 10 for your ATAR to be calculated

Well, you need a total of 10 units.

If you are doing 11 units in 2010, that gives you 13 overall.

If you drop a 2 unit subject, you will have 11 units overall, which means you have enough to receive an ATAR.

Just a FYI (although I'm fairly sure 99% of the state fulfils these requirements):
- 10 Units
- At least 2U of English
- Maximum of 6U of Sciences
- Minimum of 4 subjects.

My IPT teacher+year advisor+deputy principal told me

(Accelerated IPT in year 9/10 2007/08)

that I had to be doing a minimum of 10 units at any one time during the HSC course.
ie. I had to be doing a full 10 units during year 12 even though I had completed IPT back in year 10 giving me a total of 12 units.

Not true. Acceleration is just really one of the cases of HSC pathways. You need only do 10 units over 5 years if need be.
