not sure about everyone else's but at my school, only those who received the free laptops from the government could use the wifi.

If you knew what you were doing (about 3 people in my school) then you could get on although then they made up the biggest bs excuse that they had to turn it off for non school laptops. I'll be poking them to see if they will bring it back.

At mine you just had to ask the IT maintenance staff for permission and the WEP key. The wireless extended all over the school.

This was at a public school.

I'm trying to ask other ruse people if they know whether we can use it or not

but some it nerd mentioned that you also had to go through our school login thing with the numbers and all that so it'd be unlikely that we could access it. i still have no idea.

I think part of the reason my school blocked the wifi for students is that with my laptop I had an unblockable proxy and they couldn't see what I was doing.

Same thing I'll be using when Conroy's filtering comes out.

Leadership team at our school knew the password and typed it in for anyone. Don't know if it was allowed though.

Yep, we could use the wifi at my school although we needed to be told a code thingy.

you have to change your proxy settings to get on

Private school, you just had to ask around to find the WEP key and the IT staff didn't mind as long as you used the school proxy and logged in appropriately.

All the younger students do other computers is play DotA and use it to play games. Not one have I seen use it for work purposes.

But whatever, that's what I might have done.
