But isn't it compulsory to do an option anyway?

Yea, but this way most classes will just do a normal option whilst specialist schools and math loving kids (who might have to self teach if they only have one class at their school who are doing another option) can do an option that focuses less on implications and more on math.

Personally, i love the social and environmental impacts questions and there my faveourite part of science :p

the HSC sciences are too qualitative, not quantitative enough. in some ways they resemble the social sciences.

They should make an option topic for each science have a decent amount of difficult math. That way the course is still open to people who do basic math courses and the people who want to be challenged mathematically can be.

Also, can all the 11's stop posting in threads like these. You can't have a opinion on something you know jack all about. And no, reading though a textbook (who the fuck does that anyway) does not mean you know whats in the course.
+1 hahaha its frigging annoying

I've always wondered what is with the fanatical obsession and fascination of maths that a lot of people on this site have

It's maths!

Did you know ever since the beginning of maths there have been songs celebrating maths? The Beatles, Ella Fitzgerald, Lady Gaga, The Eagles, Bon Jovi, Robbie Williams! They are just some of the names who haven't recorded maths related songs =P

BOS is a forum about HSC, and has lots of HSC notes. High ATAR aimers tend to want more information about HSC, so they join the forum. They discover that maths scales comparatively well, so they do maths. They practice it so much (I mean, you can't really avoid that if you're doing 4 unit) that they are good at it. They probably also do Physics and Chemistry for the same reason as maths. So they want more maths to be incorporated into them so that the people who suck at maths are disadvantaged, thus giving the maths people themselves an advantage, increasing their chances of receiving a high ATAR and increased self-worth.

Does that satisfy your curiosity?

You should probably also add that they want self-worth because the females whom they like are usually the ones who do not do those kinds of subjects and are more artisan, and as the high-ATAR aiming people already know that two extroverts and two introverts are bad, and realise that as they are introverted they need an extroverted woman - they aim for them.

However, as the extroverted women are taken by the extroverted males in high school society, they focus their attention on their studies hoping for that elusive 99.95 and hopefully, hopefully by that, will win them the woman of their dreams as they are recognised as truly, the best at what they do.

Or, that's how I see it at least.

It's just a hypothesis. Might be true.

But what's the story for females?

Chemistry exams need a lot more calculations and a lot less 'regurgitate some stuff about the biopolymer you researched to adapt to the question'.

Well first of all, smart girls don't like dumb guys. Smart girls like smart guys.

On your saying that "two extroverts and two introverts are bad, and (so the guys) realise that as they are introverted they need an extroverted woman - they aim for them", most smart girls would think otherwise. Expanding from the previous paragraph, the extroverted smart girls would like extroverted smart guys, and smart introverted girls would like smart introverted guys.

Extroverted plus introverted just wouldn't work out. I bet you at least most 99.95ATAR females are sensible and introverted, and would not fit with a dumb extroverted guy who talks lots of bs.
