NAPLAN results of Australian schools were released by the Federal Government at www.myschool.edu.au. NAPLAN tests are held at the Primary level in Years 3 and 5. Secondary tests are held in Years 7 and 9.

The Sydney Morning Herald has today published league tables of schools in NSW based on the NAPLAN data. This is despite the ranking of schools being a breach of the Education Act. Most schools have been assigned a ranking, although the full list is arranged in alphabetical order. The Herald's reasons for publication of rankings can be viewed here.

I think it's a stupid idea. not many people are studying during the earlier years of highschool. So, in the end it's just a waste of time doing these tests and ranking schools when it's more important to judge the END performance of the school, which is already done, the hsc.

I was thinking that, but maybe that is the intention. This myschool thing is meant to help parents find schools with good teachers, not schools where all the students study at home heaps.

Also HSC/SC and any other tests besides NAPLAN are bassically only done in NSW so it is hard to rank them across the country.

Where can you find the full list of schools from the internet? I've tried SMH but I just can not seem to find it.

Looks a bit different from the HSC rankings.
That's because kids at schools like Hornsby Girls, Baulkham Hills, Sydney Boys and Ascham don't give a shit up until Year 11/12. :p

My grade at SBHS had the worst SC results in the history of SC results from SBHS (least Band 6s in every single SC examinable subject, ever). We ended up doing OK on the HSC rankings.

Well you know what I think is dumb. How they have the test so early in Yr 7. It;s really just a third test reflecting what the primary school taught the kid, not anything to do with the highschool. Like at my school the yr 7 results aren't that good but the Yr 9 results are pretty good (or maybe kids are just getting dumber nowadays).

NAPLAN was so ridiculously easy when I did it. (And back when it was SNAP and ELLA was also ridiculously easy, oh and I also remember some ESSA test too)
