How many people get it and is it actually useful? I know that it allows you to join clubs and stuff - so does this mean that you can't actually join anything without a card?

In my opinion it's definitely not worth it.

I bought it to join clubs and societies and get discounts... didn't attend a single meeting/event for a club or society and only ended up getting about half of the cost of the card back in discounts.

Massive waste of money for me. None of my friends went to the meetings or events for the clubs they joined either.

Make your own chocolate appreciation society- at Max Brennar's with $99 credit.

IMO, it's not worth it.

Food is better either off-campus or at places with no Union discount. No one ever goes to clubs after O-week.

Chances are you'll meet, or know, someone who does have a card and you can use theirs sometimes.

Yeah I haven't bought one, since first year (when I think you got one free with your USU haha).

In my fifth and final year now, and I'm not going to get one.

You'd have to eat at the manning bbq every day and attend every event at manning to get your money's worth.

you get 15% off everything and can join clubs and take advantage of stuff.
if you only use it for food/drink then you will get your money back, if you participate in club events you will get your money back several times over.
plus ifyou get it i think they give you a free subscription to the smh. Even though its a socialist paper and as worthless as the telegraph, it still is included free!

You wanna join that too? Yay someone else! How much does the membership cost for stuff anyway? And the access card.

it's $110 just for the card, not sure about membership.

But they did give out 2800kg of chocolate last year...

Even though it hurts to have to pay $110 when other unis let you join clubs for free - I think I might get it... am I being stupid?

I'm not sure if I got my money's worth, but I'm renewing anyway. It's only like one shift at work, no big deal

Guess I can only wait till I go to usyd to see what it's like. Hopefully uni isn't as ridiculously expensive as it sounds. How do people NOT have part-time/casual work in uni?
