I already did (murder my laptop).

Unfortunately, thanks to my act of unpremeditated violence, now it no longer works, and I've lost 5 Gigs of downloaded music.

Sigh.

ditch Readyboost, its fail. it has very little benefits. your best option would be to get the recovery disk you got with the laptop and reinstall windows, its annoying but the easiest way to optimise an old install
