Actually, I did the same thing, and nothing came up for me either. Maybe they just take it as an indication, and you just pay it before the census date? :SI selected the pay $500 upfront to get 20% discount option, but I have no outstanding liability, how am I supposed to pay this???
not worth itOk I did some investigating, unfortunately, you only get the discount on the portion that you pay, not an automatic 20% discount off the total. You can pay extra if you want to get some discount, you just go to payment options and do it anyway, so say if you payed $1000 of it now you would save $200 total.
Yes, it says no liability because if you choose to, you can not pay and they will automatically defer it for you. But you can pay anyway upfront and they will automatically update the fee statement sometime after census date.I selected the pay $500 upfront to get 20% discount option, but I have no outstanding liability, how am I supposed to pay this???
To find what 20% of an amount Y is you do Y x 20/100.I've been having trouble working out how they work out the discount...paying $500 upfront actually got me $125 discount last year..any mathematician can lend a hand?
Definitely pay before the census date.To find what 20% of an amount Y is you do Y x 20/100.
So 20% of 500 is 500 x 20/100 = 100.
You should've only gotten a $125 if you payed $625 - i guess you were lucky
So i too have chosen the otion of possibly paying some of HECS off and if i pay $500 or more it's worth an extra 25%
If i do want to pay some of HECS off, do i have to pay before the Census date for it to count? Or can i pay whenever i want? :/
I thought that was only after you graduate? :SApparently there is a 10% discount on any voluntary payments you make... so I would guess that any voluntary payments that you make after the census date would attract the 10% discount.
Hah, I'm not sure, I'm probably wrong lols. Just taking a guess.I thought that was only after you graduate? :S
I hope what you say is true! I'll definitely be trying to pay it off a little during the year if that's the case lol.
