I am just wondering, I start uni first day with a tutorial and I am told that most tutorials (depending on units) officially start week 2. So i'm kind of confused whether to attend all Week 1 tutorials or not...

Try and check blackboard. Or if your lecture is before the tutorial, you will probably find out then.

I have taken a unit with a compulsory practical/tutorial in the first week before. So they do exist .

Well, you could try e-mailing the course conveyor or someone whose e-mail is attached to the unit page in the MQ handbook.

You could also list the units here, maybe if someone has taken them in the past they can help you.

Generally they don't start until Week 2. Last year I had 2/8 start in the first week though, so it's possible. If the lecture is before the tute, they'll just tell you then. If not, then as suggested above, email the convenor.

MKTG 101 Starts in week 2 - went up on blackboard last night.

It does happen though my ECON111 has a tutorial the first week and it is before my first lecture!

BBA102 has gone up now too. Starts in week 2

When you go into blackboard click on the course outline - it tells you in there.

I can't remember the password to my student portal thing so I gotta call up IT help on Monday but I'd like to know about tutorials before then if anyone knows anything? Thanks

If anyone has experience with Econ111 when they say tutorials will be in groups of 4-5, do they mean that each tutorial class is 4-5 people..or a bigger group, say 20?, which is then split into 4-5??

I'm doing that too and the way i read it was that we will be in a class of like 20 but split into groups of say 5 and that is the group we have to work with for the semester.

guys, when u log into blackboard (when u key in details) on the right it says, please allow 72hours from Monday 22 feb for all units (which will go onto online units) to become active.

if u don't know whether to go to ur tut before this, then don't go and just go to lecture and see what they say.

Last year a different textbook was used, tutorials did not start unitl week 4 (yes, four, no typo), and 'tutorials' were held in lecture theatres with 100+ students registered for (but not necessarily 'went to') each tutroial.
