(do a search, i think these types of questions have been asked before.)

Work until you feel you understand the content, simple as that.
This may take some 30 minutes, and others several hours.
Then just keep practising what you know in the form of practise tests and questions =)

last minute assignments and crammed before exams
Lol. Don't listen to the above :) (Even though it worked for me too...).

My suggestions:

1. If you can't study at home, go to the library. It does wonders! Less distractions.
2. - English: Essays, essays, eshays.
- Math: Questions, questions, questions. Get your hand on as many past papers as possible.
- Sciences: The syllabus is your bible/koran/whatever you want to call it. Write notes based on each dotpoint, plus attempt past papers. Unfortunately, I crammed past paper questions very, very late! (a few days before the actual HSC).
3. Do your assignments once you get them. Get it over and done with. Or break it up into separate daily intervals.
4. Prioritise your work. Don't spend time on say English, if you have a Mechanics 4U exam tomorrow :uhhuh:.
5. Revise your work.
6. No time for revision? Cram hard last minute.

All the best :).

Made notes for physics and chem with friends a few week before HSC exam. Skimmed through them before the actual HSC exams.

For maths, past papers.

For english, made super flexible essays + back up quotes etc etc. Wrote, rewrote and edited my creative story so many times it wasn't funny.

Didn't do much homework, but i did actively listen in class when it was interesting :)

All my work was done with music in my ears to block our distractions, but don't try that if music distracts you!

wow . thank you :) and well done on your amazing ATAR ! :)
edit: with the super flexible essays and back up quotes, how did you ensure your essays were flexible and adaptable to suit the question?

No worries and thanks :)

I made what i called a "base essay" answering a really broad question then just did a few other practise questions, some broad some specific to make sure i could effectively adapt my essay. But don't do that if you're not comfortably with doing so - it takes quite a lot of skill, effort and luck to be able to do that :)

its not hard, payed attention in class, did homework (if i liked the subject) then read notes before exams >.< . Actually i had awful study habits i would never do anything until the night before the exam leading to panic attack and all nighter cramming lol. Your mark is really decided from the holidays before trials onwards. If you buckle down before trials and then use the time between trials and hsc (most ppl procrastinate and do nothing) you will suceed. I did and i didnt even study before trials and hsc but i only got 93.5 so sky is the limit

Heaps of things in his chem notes are wrong. Make sure you check them before you use them.
OMG YES.
I was too lazy to make my own so I used his for one of my exams and I got a question wrong because I learnt the wrong information off of him.
That certainly taught me. GAH.
