Brands: Hp, Sony, Asus/Eee, Dell... But I really don't mind. Just a decent one will do!
Price Range: Preferably under $1000
Uses: Mainly for school (microsoft word, etc) + organising photos
Size/Weight: Not too small, not too big/preferably under 2kg

Is this enough information...?

what do u mean by 'they aren't one of the best options'?

i'd say it's a good option considering your price range and uses.

a netbook would be good i reckon.

Oh I'm hoping it'll last me a few years too.
I did a little bit of research behind some of the Dell laptops -
they're well priced however from the reviews I read they aren't one of the best options.

Thanks for your reply!

I dont think you should be pissing on Dell when you considered HP in the OP.

It may be cos I'm a nerd but why do people even remotely care about the aesthetic value of a laptop?

Toshibaaa is the best.
I got mine for $2100 though. Well, my parents did.
Unless it's a Satellite Pro series, expect some piece of Hardware to brick before too long...

And for that price you should have got a Sony Vaio... MUCH sexier and much better put together... but too late now... but just knowledge for the future

I've had it since the beginning of year nine...so far so good
/let's not jinx it shall we.

But I need to seriously get with the times and get Windows 7. Do I just buy it from harvey norman or something?

Edit: Yes, it is satellite something. I've never noticed the word satellite on the left.

Edit: Just googled Sony Vaio. My laptop is by far sexier. Sleek and black babbeh.

Vaio's are an expensive waste of money. The only 'premium' PC laptops worth purchasing are the thinkpads...

Lol you don't actually buy it, just get a pirated version, works great.
