fwiw i'd go the mazda, 8 years of warranty sounds great but I'd bet my left nut you won't have it in about 6. In terms of reliability etc, you're getting what you're paying for, and the resale would be better regardless of when you're oging to sell it.

Though I'm guessing you're bent on the cruze and nothing here will in any way change that.

It's more of a second car for the family, not personally for my own exclusive use.

Edit:

Called up local Mazda dealer to see how much options were exactly,

Alarm - $595
Auto on/off headlights - $695
Front corner parking sensors - $695
Reverse parking sensors - $695

So in order to get it on the same level, feature wise, as the Cruze, I'm looking at $695 + $695, so about $1480, without the leather.

If you need sensors you dont deserve a car.

I wouldn't limit yourself to just SS utes however, you could also look at a CV8 monaro.

I don't have sensors now, but I can't exactly tell them to get rid of something that's standard (on the Cruze). It's just mentioned for the purpose of a fair comparison.

SS ute? Monaro?
I think I'd be attracting unwanted attention, not to mention insurance and fuel.
Why don't I just get an Integra, S2000 or a 200SX for that matter.

I drive a suzuki swift (2009) and its brilliant. nice handling, low fuel consumption and it has enough power to keep you happy. its also a hell of a lot cheaper than a mazda 3.

In an earlier post you said you wouldn't choose a car that didnt have 5 star ANCAP. There is pretty much no difference between 4 star and 5 star. If your going to crash and a 4 star rating car dosn't save you, then chances are a 5 star won't either.

this is what you are saying

eh, i have a civic which is about as much as you're talking about, and it goes pretty well imo. plus they don't seem to depreciate as rapidly as holdens etc do
