It sure does. That's why worked solutions to the book are so useful.

Cambridge and Fitzpatrick is probably the best combination for Extension 1 maths. But past papers and Phoenix HSC Practice Questions by topics (or and examinations styles questions / books) will be the most helpful in achieving good marks. =)

Well I've been using Coroneos' orange textbook for the first term and a bit.. but the school just ordered new Terry Lee books. Pretty sure we're all excited for it ahah but yeah, Coroneos is heaps old though it has all the content. Terry Lee is more updated and has worked solutions as well

I like Fitzpatrick as well. The questions in there are really good and once you know how to do all the questions on a particular topic, you're guaranteed 85% + on an exam. I hate Understanding Year 12 Maths. I have it and I'm self teaching myself from it. It's so bad! Heaps of answers and explanations are wrong!

Understanding books are study guides. Lol. I self teached myself with that fook for year 11 3unit. Now i'm onto 2U Cambridge . Only to find that I have to buy the Year 11 3 Unit to get the year 12 3u

Haha, I thought you're talking about the questions at first.... but I realised it's the size of the book. I've bought the latest verision (which has a cd inside) it's really light and tiny! I think they're changed every Cambridge book to the thin and lighter version.

But you need to know the stuff from the basic too. But if you know them already, like 2U/3U stuff, maybe you won't need that book. But still, there's way more practice questions for you to do!!

Do you guys reckon its worth buying Year 12 Cambridge 3U, because it doesn't seem to cover as many topics as Cambridge 3U Year 11 :S?

Or would the first two fitzpatricks be enough?

Cambridge 3/4 Unit is easily the best for questions, NOT EXPLANATIONS.

I'm using 3 books :
1. Maths in Focus
2. Fitzpatrick
3. Cambridge

I'm using Maths in Focus first every new chapter so I will learn the basic theory and it makes me familiar with the new concept. It's very easy (almost a jokes!)and usually I finish a chapter for 2-3 days
After that I jump to Fitzpatrick and then to the hardest one,Cambridge
You can change the Fitzpatrick with other book anyway.
For me the important ones are Math In Focus and Cambridge but basically if you have good teacher you don't need Math In Focus

That is exact same with me, except after i've done cambridge I get every single past HSC question on the chapter and do that as well. THen I go to maths online when I'm really desperate

just get the fitzpatrick one its 2/3unit for years 11/12 its what we use at my school and its pretty good i guess

After reading all the posts, i'm really confused about which textbook to get :L I'm in year 10 but will be rolling over to year 11 soon (note: extension 1 maths). Which textbook(s) should i get that will challenge me but also help me with understanding concepts and stuff? I have yr 11 cambridge 3 unit already, and my school supplies maths in focus. Anyone have any i deas what extra books i should get in order to help me? Thanks!

I will give you a bit of insight into which textbooks to get,

Cambridge: This text is awesome! A must for every 3 unit student, although some questions require a deeper level of thinking, completing a fair amount of exercises will ensure a solid foundation. The book is divided into 3 sections, the foundation section, the development section and finally the extension questions. (If you can nail the extension questions, great. If not, no worries.)

Fitzpatrick: Another great book for 3U, it has Year 11 and 12 combined work, so you won't have to buy a separate book. Use this in conjunction with the 2U book. The book was contains great questions, but the layout of the book may turn off some students, questions are not ordered in difficulty. (Get this book too, give up Maccas for 2 weeks.)

Maths In Focus: Now, this book. In all honesty, does not contain sufficient practice for the HSC. However, you should not completely ignore it, the exercises do not take long anyway, so make sure you get the basics right first.

Other books you can get are Coroneos and Terry Lee Fundamentals. (3U Year 12)

But the most powerful tool you can get are PAST PAPERS.
