MX1 -> Mathematics and Ext 1 paper
MX2 -> Ext 1 paper and Ext 2 paper
both MX1 and MX2 Candidates have combined exam times of 5 hours.
Mathematics and Extension 2 are worth 3 hours each
and MX1 is just 2 hours :p

Say someone is doing mathematics and mathematics extension 1

do they do both HSC exams for each subject or does the MX1 cover everything?

and for MX2 students, do they have to do M, MX1, and MX2 exams? or is just one

thnx
2 exams, one 3 hour and one 2 hour. the MX2 does a 2 hour MX2 exam and a 2 hour MX1 exam(for the hsc/ trials). think of the two as different subjects

This is not fair, that means all MX1 students will rip M students to shreds :(, wish they had their own &*^ independent exam and that's it, they choose to do MX1 let them go do MX1 in their corner, and don't interfere with M students ><. F BOS, every yr they end up changing something, why don't u change this messed up shyt.

Think of Maths and MX1 as two different subjects.

MX1 do both, MX2 only do MX1 and MX2 - they don't sit the mathematics exam. Hope that helps! Btw, at our school they do all of the mathematics assessment tasks for practice - something like 10 hours worth!

Not exactly. While some of the stuff is harder 2U work, a lot of it is a seperate form of Mathematics. In any case, the people doing Extension would probably do better than most of the people doing 2U, which is why they're taking Extension.

Is the 2 unit course more work than the ext course because its "2 units" and ext 1 is "1 unit" but that "1 unit" is much more complex, so its harder but less work than "2 unit" if u get what i mean?.... thats why ext1 is worth 1 unit and not 2?.

In my case, my Extension class is exactly the same as my Advanced class, same teacher too. We just continue on, there is no definitive line to tell the difference for us, we just know that we're ahead of the other Advanced class (yes, only 2 advanced classes at my school), and that we do a couple extra topics.
