I'm thinking of applying to UNSW, Sydney or Macquarie for a Bachelor of Arts degree when UAC starts up for this year. I heard off someone that different universities specialise in different areas, and I just wanted to know if UNSW, Sydney or Macquarie's Arts courses are, generally, good :)

I'd appreciate it if anyone can help me. At the moment I'm thinking Macquarie because it's closer, but I'd like to know the quality of the courses in the three unis :)

I'm at USYD, hence I'm going to tell you how amazing it is. It has a rather extensive amount of arts majors that you can choose from, however my experience has only been within the fields of linguistics and European languages. What area were you interested in?

Arts at USYD is apparently one of the best arts degree's in the world. UNSW for engo and commerce. USYD for everything else.

No idea. I have just heard that if you are going to do an arts degree, the only place to do it is at USYD.
mmmm depends what you plan to major in

I'm not necessarilly sure what I'd want to major in, but in the Arts stream I want to do something with Creative Writing (been looking on the sites for UNSW, Mac and Sydney) and the Arts Psychology.

From the looks of this thread Sydney seems to be the better one of the three? How do the other two fare though, would it be career-suicide to go to them over Sydney?

It wouldn't be career suicide. At the end of the day no matter which uni you choose to go to you will still come out with an arts degree. I highly doubt employers are going to favour USYD over UNSW etc as they are both quality universities and whichever one you attended will probably carry very little weight, if any, when it comes to finding a job.

I'm just keeping a shortlist. Fees I guess are also a big thing for me. Not that I want the cheapest course, just something that's affordable and can be paid for. I'm not trying to suggest that Sydney's prices are ridiculous or anything, just they could be out of the price range... but if I'm getting quality education, wouldn't you pay more for that?

No.

But I dunno how much money I actually have, so I either get a scholarship or fee relief or something or the funny HECs thing.
Money shouldn't be a problem if you're an Australian citizen as you only have to pay your HECS back when you earn a reasonable income.
