Hey guys, I'm tossing up between doing either finc2012 or finc2013.
If you guys have done either one of those units before could you give me an idea of what to expect and which one I should pick?
Also what type of maths should i expect from finc2013?

I can only remark on FINC 2012 which I did in the second semester last year. It was basically a terrible subject. It was really badly taught, text didnt line up with lecture notes. Very ambigious, and I still have no idea how to calculate real option value. Also, the subject wasn't scaled-I know this because I reviewed my final exam and was able to calculate my raw mark against my final one. If you have to do it, make sure you go to PASS classes as well, and shop around for a good tutor.

Indeed, FINC2012 was terrible, to say the very least.

... Any response from those who got HD or D in this subject last year semester 2 or semester 1 this year???

Was it really as bad as they say?

I am considering doing both FINC2012 and FINC2013...
I will also be doing FINC2192 as well this semester.

From what it seems, I might be better off just doing FINC2013.

I mean... FINC2012 cannot be as hard as ECMT3110?

I heard the math is pretty ordinary in FINC2013, such as matrices.
Although it would be nice to somehow compare the two subjects...

"Analysing the past forum posts" A lot of them recommend FINC2012 over FINC2013...
Something about FINC2013 being about deriving CAPM and pointless??? o_O! I don't think it's pointless.

Although it is possible the lecturer has changed in the meantime.

Then again, people doing ECOS2001 told me the lecturer was awful.
However, it didn't stop me getting a HD...

I still haven't made up my mind between the two. If finc2013 involves matrices then it'll be great seeing as I just learned about matrices last semester. And I'll also like if someone would contribute their two cents about finc2013.

And I didn't think the ECOS2001 lecture was awful. Not the greatest but was interesting at some of the time. And I got a HD aswell! :)
