There is an adequate amount of scientific evidence which indicates that smoking weed is bad for your health including encouraging mental illness. It is currently still disputed, but that doesn't mean you should just ignore the scientific reports which indicate it does have an effect.

Yes but it's currently estimated you'd have to prevent 40'000 people from ever trying marijuana to prevent a single case of schizophrenia from being potentiated - a case of schizophrenia which may have eventuated regardless in the at risk individual.

If you contrast this to the risk and injury rates of an activity that is perceived as wholesome such as horse riding...

There is adequate amount of scientific evidence which indicates that marijuana may help prevent alzheimer's, lung/brain/breast cancers, parkinsons disease etc...

NO, NO, NO.

Fucking idiots! You cannot use 'xtc and weed' and 'seems pretty safe' in the same fucking sentence. I don't care that you're a gronk and that you're ignorant to the various health, economic and social detriments drugs cause. INGESTING ANYTHING THAT CHANGES THE CHEMICAL BALANCES IN YOUR BRAIN IS NOT FUCKING SAFE, regardless of how petty you think the risks or impacts involved are.

Yes, you can. Ingesting caffeine to an extreme level can cause psychosis, do you like energy drinks or coffee? How about fast food? Heard of a sugar addiction?

Practically everything you ingest will change your body somehow, research and use substances correctly.

Yes, Ecstasy or mostly MDMA can royally mindfuck your brain if you abuse it. Let me guess, you've seen a load of kids who get into E, start rolling on a regular basis, then end up totally fucked?

MDMA in 6-10 week intervals isn't AS bad (no worse than getting pissed every weekend) if you pre-load with vitamins and post-load afterwards to prevent neurotoxicity.

All you idiots spouting bullshit about weed that the government told you need to get your facts straight. Have you ever heard of the film 'Reefer Madness'? It made people believe that smoking weed makes you go crazy and murder people. Anyone who's ever smoked weed knows that you would never be bothered doing that, eating stuff and sitting on the couch is much more desirable. But people took it as fact, and genuinely believed that if they smoked weed they would go insane and kill people.

It is the same today, only to a lesser degree. The government fills your heads with stupid lies to protect the pharmaceutical companies' income. The pharmaceutical companies that hand out legal prescription drugs that are far, far more harmful and addictive than marijuana is. Of course smoking weed isn't good for you, but smoking ANYTHING isn't good for you. Taking weed orally in a brownie or something is probably safer than taking panadol.

It doesn't make people schitzophenic, but it can exacerbate mental illness in people that were going to get it anyway. It's a much less harmful drug than alcohol and much less addictive than cigarettes and there is no real reason for it to be illegal.

Smoking anything is bad because no matter what you're smoking, you're still inhaling smoke into your lungs which could be highly detrimental to your health.

You can get vaporisers that effectively eliminate the smoke part of it.

But in the USA, medical marijuana is generally smoked, so in some cases the immediate benefits outweigh the potential risks associated with smoking.
