I was just wondering whether exams at UNSW are open book in any faculty? e.g. commerce/business and law exams?

Commerce-> generally no
Law -> probably due to the fact you need to cite a lot of things in exams
engineering -> depends on course

Commerce
No open book exams for any of the 1st year compulsory subjects.
Maybe for actuarial studies but definitely none for accounting,finance, business stats, economics or marketing.

I did surprisingly get quite a useful sheet for my end of sem MATS exam though.

closed book exams are easier than open book ones anyway. uni exams dont specifically test memory unlike certain high school tests, rather they test understanding of the material and concepts and their applications in a semi-practical setting.

I agree.

The MATS formula sheet we had was useless/too advanced I remember I thought.
