Nice work I'm sure many potential ANU students will appreciate this. I can offer extra feedback on UniLodge if needed.

BURRRRRRGMANNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!! haha classic,
will be there in 2012, moving from sydney from a boarding school, so it should be fine to live away from home,
would Burton and Garron be a good place to stay at in ANU??

If you want to email me a note about Unilodge (whether it be Davey or Kinloch) I am happy to add to my post.

B&G is great. It's pretty big, but everyone gets on. You will have pretty limited space in your kitchen area. Most people have a mini bar fridge in their rooms and that works well. Get yourself into a bit of a cooking group, because cooking for 1 is pretty lonely! Make sure you apply early when it rolls around next year. Or better yet, come to Canberra and check it all out.

Burgmann is definitely the Arts/Law college - if you're not interested in politics I'm not sure how you'll cope there (will you even pass interview? :p) If you want a catered college I'd recommend Ursies or Bruce instead. (disclaimer: I'm biased towards my own college, obviously...)

Everyone I know at Bruce is pretty nerdy. I was told by my former Head of Hall that Bruce and Ursies generally have the highest overall averages of the residences at ANU. If it's anything like Ursies, it'll be fairly nerdy - although that doesn't mean the not-so-nerdy don't fit in, unless you expect a drinking and sports culture.

Living in college is great, you get to meet all sorts of new people - and most importantly for me, you don't have to cook. :p

Do you know any colleges which would be for like normal kids ? haha those who enjoy sport and also study and can get along with like anyone? Yeah i am seriously considering living at ANU it would be fine for me as im boarding in ssydney haha so living away from home shouldnt be different.

Which uni lodge are u at?? can u also organise a roommate if you wanted to live at ANU?

do you know any of the open day dates for ANU??

im like so excited to go there hhaha :)

Normal people don't go to ANU, they stay in Sydney, right? :p

I'd say you'd get on alright at any of the ANU halls (i.e. not Burgmann/Johns/UniLodge). I'm pretty sure all the residences except UniLodge and the postgrad/mature age wings have single rooms. Open Day dates should be up on the website at some point, I know they like to schedule it on the same day as the Sydney open days, so you might want to come down separately and organise your own tours and meetings instead.

B&G is fantastic because it' s so close being on campus, but Fenner has a lot more space in rooms and kitchen... you just have to be willing to walk further to class ;D

Hey guys,

this might be a really stupid question

but firstly, do any of the rooms have mini kitchen things going on? or is all cooking and sinks within the Kitchen?

And secondly, what college is for the psychology/laws people?

Basically.. what's the best one to be at

Postgrad/mature age wings do, and UniLodge, but otherwise you have communal kitchens in B&G/Fenner.

Well... Burgmann's the law college, not sure if there's a particular college with a high concentration of Psych students. Psych/Law is a fairly small program, I know probably two people who are doing/have done it.

Ursies. :p

Don't think you have a choice when it comes to student accommodation. Plenty of people who applied for halls / colleges last year got stuck in UniGardens and Carotel and barely anyone I've talked to got their first preference. If you get ANYTHING on campus (also Fenner) you are lucky as student accommodation at ANU is in very high demand.

If you do get stuck in a UG/Carotel situation though, there's still hope as they have priority to transfer into the halls/colleges as soon as places become available. They've tightened the application deadlines this year and Warrumbul/SA3 is opening so hopefully there will be less issues this year.
