the dot point means what you learn in class.

strange thing, in my hsc physics exam in 2009 I was reading one of the multi choice questions and I instantly remembered straight back to the lesson that we covered that dot point in. I could even like hear my teachers voice in my mind and could remember the exact words she said when she was teaching it, quite a weird experience actually.
you actually paid attention to your teacher and learnt from her once :p

Why is this cram week? you people are obsessed with study. You're all acting like it is 1 week before HSC exam wtf? Did I forget to step in the time machine?

They probably mean its time to cram because the holidays come to an end and school's back, which in actual fact means NOTHING!

It's not THAT overrated, you're obviously very intelligent if you think like that
Not really, the effort i had to put into my HSC work to get 90+ does not even compare to the effort i have to put into my uni work to be looking at the same grades. If you're aiming for 99.XX it may obviously be different, but let's be honest, i really isn't that difficult to hit the 90's in the HSC.

Yeah, you guys are just making it so fucking overrated. You will probably stress and forget main concepts. bye bye marks.

No I don't think it will be fuck all that difficult. (I picked subjects that I will ace and enjoy). it will probably be like the SC when it's compared to uni work.

nah i srsly think it's probably one of the most overrated tasks in early life. Especially with all the crazy aligning that takes place, it just cant be difficult to get decent marks in subjects. The only thing difficult about the hsc was fighting against procrastination.. although i never did the typical asian subjects of mx2, chem, phys etc. etc

It's that feeling after finishing isn't it? Though I agree it wouldn't be that epic as some others make it out to be.

I agree completely.

I hardly studied except before the final exams, and a lot of my responses in Eng Adv, EE1 and Biology were relatively poor. To be quite honest, I was expecting an ATAR just over 80, but instead I got 90.60.

To be fair, extension english saved you. You cant say you found the HSC easy when you didnt get a SINGLE band 6 except for a subject which essentially consisted of a major work, or band E4 in this case.

+1 @OP -with ur subjects, if you're aiming at an ATAR of 92, you probably shouldn't study at home at all, just listen ur teachers in class and understand the concepts. But by 92+, this guy could be aiming at 99.95 :>

It doesn't help if you're whinging at BOS about how much time you've wasted. Just try your best and do what you like!!!

I started my major work two weeks before it was due, and wrote my reflection statement / forged my journal the night before.

Throughout the year I had an attendance of ~ 65% and studied only what I needed to - mostly I just memorised the course summaries in the back of my Excel textbooks. Matter of fact, the only texts in Adv English and EE1 I personally viewed and analyzed were the poems and films; everything else I simply pulled from internet resources.

If you're pragmatic in your approach to the HSC, minimising your workload and choosing subjects that play to your skills, there is no excuse not to break 80.

It really isn't that hard if you're not completely fucking braindead.

BUT I DO 2 OF THOSE SUBJECTS AND I'M NOT ASIAN, I'M WHITE, AND I PROCRASTINATE ALL THE TIME! SHIT!
I have a mate who did his HSC in 2009 and got an ATAR of ~98 with Standard English and General Maths
Were you guys friends.
I just call him "a guy that went to my school"
Btw, he also did General Maths, but I was told he dropped down from MX1... I think everyone that doesn't need, nor want Mathematics should just drop to general now. Easy marks.

Yeahh we were in first grade soccer together and I still talk to him now..

I wasnt aware that he dropped from MX1 but still, I was just trying to make aware the fact that you can still get extremely good marks with those sort of subjects..

I was told he dropped from MX1 to general... not sure how true it is though. I don't even remember who told me. It was totes a teacher though.
I dropped from MX1 >.<
and you got 89. That's a decent mark considering you put next to no effort in.
