Hey guys,

At my school, we have not covered log graphs, further trig and trig graphs. In our 4u class we have covered complex numbers, graphs and are currently doing integration.

Obviously, I will have to go back upon learning these topics to graphs in order to learn how to sketch variations of them, and with Integration I am led to believe it is necessary to know the formulae from further trig (?).

Ultimately, I am asking if these topics are considerably hard and whether it would be wise to move ahead of my 3u class to get to these topics in order to go back to earlier 4u topics and finish the completely. I have spent lots of hours already on 4u and REALLY don't want those hours to go to waste by dropping it, however will I be screwed come HSC?

Thanks,

yes u are screwed

how can you have done graphs chapter if you have done log graphs yet, and you need some further trig in integration

Complex numbers, graphs and integration are some of the easier topics. You don't have to go ahead as your 4unit teacher will probably go back once you have covered the background 3 unit knowledge required.

What I do is that I attempt to go ahead in 3U class by doing 4U work and possibly cramming 3U homework, as I've done most of the work already :p
if you have a lenient teacher then bring in your 4U work and do it in the 3U class xD
i have such a good teacher... as of now... I'm quite fortunate about that :p

What are the main results needed from Further Trig for 4u Integration?

Logs and trig are really easy you should be able to pick it up fine if you wanted to do it on your own. It really just depends on whether you have enough time to do it though. I wouldn't worry too much about it for 4u graphs though if you can do exponentials then logs are pretty much the same.

add polynomials as well, once you know complex, polynomials isn't that much difficult

Ok hopefully polynomials will be easy-ish so I can go back and teach myself the 3u topics. We have done the 3u component of polynomials and I believe that it shall be our next topic for 4u.

So I'm not totally screwed? : D

Is there much of a difference between 3unit and 4unit polynomials? For 4unit all I can see is it deals with complex numbers, the rest is 3unit.
Nah, it's pretty much identical except for complex numbers, roots of multiplicity and harder questions.

First half of 4unit isn't that bad then...
graphs, complex numbers, conics, polynomails and parts of integration are okay
Though conics is extremely tedious. It's like further parametrics OMG

Is conics at least interesting? Or is it just plain boring? I found parametrics one of the more interesting 3u topics.
