im in year 12 and am doing 10 units all up and am doing fairly well so far and yet every atar calculator says that ill get nothing more than 60?

im doing
  • english advanced
  • CAFS
  • PDHPE
  • senior science
  • modern history
i want to get 85 but would settle for nothing more than 75 - is it really possible to get these kind of marks with these subjects?

btw - innaccurate signature

are you putting in your raw marks? remember that everything goes through an aligning, moderating and scaling process

some of your subjects aren't exactly great scaling subjects (CAFS, PDHPE, senior science) but if you do REALLY well in them then it won't matter

If you're putting in scores that you're getting from school, which are not aligned or moderated according to that year's current BOS means and statistics, then you'll get very disappointing results.

A few BoS members are quite well learned at estimating the aligned marks of certain subjects, based on previous raw marks and scores provided by other users of the site. If you post some of the marks that you are currently getting (as an average for each) then we could tell you a rough estimate as to what they'd be, aligned.

Well, when you can, you can post all your assessment marks/ranks and school rank, and we can estimate a more accurate ATAR for you.

Anywhere between 96.500 and 98.00 would be a reasonable estimate, I think. But don't get your hopes up, because scaling changes each year and you have to work your ass off, regardless.

Thanks for that guys.. and to be honest I would be absolutely over the moon if I got anywhere near that 96-98 range :headbang:

Can I ask another question though..

Out of my subjects, which can I afford to drop down a little bit in raw marks and which do I have to keep really high and really competitive in order to get that mid to high 90s ATAR..?

I would have to say that you need to continually work hard at that level to maintain a minimum mid 90s ATAR. You could probably risk one or two marks in Physics atm, but it's early days so I can't tell for sure.
