re: casey haynes etc.

By removing harsh and unpleasant discipline from the school system, adults have demonstrated they are unwilling to defend the smaller, weaker or shy kids. Thus we have created a nasty and brutal nightmare in our schools, where bullies can get whatever they want. Because the teachers are unwilling to “carry a big stick”, the biggest toughest kids are.

First of all: "Bullying is a form of abuse. It comprises repeated acts over time that involves a real or perceived imbalance of power with the more powerful individual or group abusing those who are less powerful. The power imbalance may be social power and/or physical power." It's important to define what bulying is. Calling someone a faggot in the schoolyard once is not bullying. Nor is an isolated fight necessarily.

Chem Ali's statement is true though. However, bullying is a part of life and social interaction. The only way you can effectively halt bullying in the schoolyard is if you expel the actual bully and I'm unsure of the lasting consequences to do with that. I don't particularly care in all honesty because if you're doing something as retarded as bullying smaller children unprovoked just because you can you deserve to be punished.

Besides that, bullying is only *really* effective (ie: suicides as a result) when there is no domestic support (my lecturer just said these words) in the home. There's no sanctuary because their parents and siblings are just as abusive.

didnt all the lefty teachers push for less harsh treatment for kids / discipline like 20 years ago or so?

Governments have intervened with education as well.

there is no discipline in public schools.

in public schools you can get away with a lot of really bad bullying

and you know what happens if you do some serious shit?

You get suspended for a few weeks which is literally a holiday for the real shit head kids cos many of their parents dont discipline them either

and if they keep getting suspended the school expells them and makes them another schools problem.

teachers can get in trouble for raising their voice at kids nowadays.

DEFINITELY NEED MOAR DISCIPLINE IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

not just for bullying but also for misbehaving students

also bigger class sizes - harder to control class and shit kids just make it so much worse.

also i refer to bullying as it not being an isolated incident and something a isolated incident could lead to

eg one person could call you a faggot once and then turn a whole group of kids to harass you.

yeah like you cant stop bullying for ever happening but at least discipline kids who do it.

god ive seen kids pushed down stairs, spat on, beaten up by seniors etc.

even seen a kid chased around by two girls who were "supposedly" my friends (friends with my friends okay dont like them) trying to stab him with a broken glass bottle.

I've intervened with a lot of that shit and when you complain to the school nothing happens.

I've piggy backed little kids that have been beaten up etc to the office/sick bay.

Nothing happens.

The kids think its all a great joke.

when i was in yr12 nearly all of our year was pretty good with stopping bullying
i was at boarding school so lots of the younger kids would do it to seem cool and if you call them a dickhead and tell them to wake up to themselves they get all embarrassed and stop

idk the govt has basically fucked over the underclass by making these practices that lead to family breakups so common and easy to get away with

if youre a low iq / low conscientiousness person who was socialized by only a moron single mother yeah youre gonna be a fuckup mate

Actually punish the students that do some sort of wrong

At the moment there is very little effective punishment other than giving them a holiday

Yeh, though what can you do really, it's pretty much up to the parents to do it which chances are they often don't (almost certainly for repeat offenders).

But ye suspensions are the worst, 1 or 2 days to cool off if is okay I spose but anymore is just snowballing the problem cos they get so far behind and will fuck up more and what not.

Pretty good post tbh. Punch someone in a face and get an extra set of two week school holidays.
