My Accounting Lecturer, Youngdeok Lim, went to Seoul National Uni.

It can't be that bad. I should ask him about his thoughts on it. Yay for him being my tutor!

Don't trust a lot of the publishrd University rankings. It must be several times harder to get into SNU than usyd or ANU. A lot of people here like to think Australian unis are way up there; got to be kidding yourselves. How a uni is ranked depends on criteria used. We don't necessarily agree with those criteria. A lot of top unis are given low ranking and vice versa.

With the miserable fundings universities here have been allocated by the government over the last 20 years how do you expect local unis to be great. Look at the way the best brains in the country are being rewarded. A mining equipment operator working in the Pilbara probably gets paid much more than a university professor. Think about it. Australian unis are not that great!

It is true that the Liberal government neglected education in Australia, especially Higher Education.

To a lesser extent, Labor also. About 50 years ago there were about Now there are about 50? To be fair, it is a big burden for the state to fund all these universities. Tertiary education used to be an elite thing - only the top 10 % perhaps. Nowadays even the half-baked goes to uni; standards on average must drop. You don't need a PhD to figure that out.
