I don't agree with this. Who says studying 3 hours a day will get u a band 6? Wish it was that easy.

umm it's even easier than that.. for some people an hour a day could be enough

depends how you study

I manage band 5/6 (depending on subject) with 3ish hours a day

as for op, raw marks such as the one you've indicated would provide you close to a band 6, or if not, a band 6 anyway..... BUT depends on your school rank and how they've set the exams

There are so many factors for those getting band 6 in a subject, so it's all up to the person themselves and their situation.

Your in prelim, you have no fucking idea. I got band 6's in prelim without looking at a syllabus. If you require that amount of study in prelim, bail out now. Period.

Judging based on people I know who have done their HSC...

Some people a Band 6 is full out impossible.
Some people a Band 6 is possible with mass study, but often cannot be achieved in all subjects due to time constraint.
Some people a band 6 requires a good amount of study for each, but they can get band sixes in all with a solid study through the year.
Some people only need to study a bit due to natural talent and still get a Band 6 (or it's an "easy" subject for them)
One in a while, a freaky genius can do well in everything with little/no study a.k.a have a photographic memory and everything.

I think the best advice is, do the best HSC you can, it'll be better than some, worse than others but ultimately, can you really have any regret ion your part if you do so? (Okay, there may be regret that the amount you did didn't qualitate the mark or you were marked unfairly etc. but you won't feel guilty for not putting your best effort forward).

OP, congrats on the ranks. Worthy ranks to have at any school imho.

Personally I agree, i feel its impossible to get a band 6 in certain subjects such as Advanced English.
