Re: Why is marijuana still illegal?

It is not retarded reasoning.
Approx 1/3 to 1/4 of Australians work in Fast Food.
Any laws which causes a impact on this industry would cause loss of jobs.
It would only be a temporary loss of jobs, because people would either be saving more (->economic growth) or spending it on other stuff (reallocation of resources)

its pretty fuckin sad you study economics and you can't even realise this

I fucking knew that you derp.

The reallocation doesn't mean that the other industries would need labour. Labour is a derived demand.

Drugs should be legal, but you need to be a certain age before taking them. Such as the "you gotta be 18 or over to smoke" rule.
Alcohol should be able to be purchased by age 16+ imo.
Then again... if they reduced the minimum drinking age, many people would have a drinking problem...
or maybe its just me

It is just you :p

But if it was lowered, that would be a problem since teens can drive at 16

Although IIRC, the evidence suggests that the level wouldn't really change if the age was lowered. The people that would do it are pretty much already doing it.

Re: Why is marijuana still illegal?

@ smokers drain taxpayer's money thing,
If you get in a car accident then you should have every right to use the medical system you paid for through taxes yeah? Why doesn't a smoker have the same rights to access those resources? No smoker intends to get cancer or anything, it's just an 'accident'. Obesity probably costs more than smokers, does that mean unhealthy foods should be banned?
Yes.
Although, I would lose my job... but I hate my job anyway. EVERYBODY WINS!!!
Except fat people.

You're a dickhead.
Alcohol is a depressant that disrupts brain development in children.
16 year olds are children!
If you legalise alcohol for 16 year olds you may as well bring back leaded petrol.

It should be considered a health issue, not a crime.
Legalise pot!!!

i wasn't even suggesting that fatty foods should be banned you derp
i was using it to make a point
i.e. people pay for hospitals and doctors etc. so they can use the medical system when they need it, smokers and matt goodwins aren't any different
Hahaha. Matty the fatty.

I would drink even more than I do already if the age was lowered.
And I would've started younger too.

I think teenagers are opportunistic. If they could, they would. Most can't.
The figures imo would change.
Heck... if I could legally drink now, I would. But I can't, so I don't... well, not often anyway.

True, the majority of people at my school don't drink because they can't, and i am sure most would if they could/

Didnt think of that.
Okay then. Teach responsible drinking.
It'll make year 9/10 PDHPE a useful subject.

Not really.
