I'm wondering why it is taking so long for the GEOS2112 results to come out. Our final exam was on the last week of semester (thus nothing during the actual exam period) yet nothing.

To my knowledge, generally there is a meeting of course coordinators in a particular faculty (markera meeting etc) to ensure all marks in a subject conform to faculty rules (eg bell
Curves or not too many HDs etc) before marks can be formally released. Thus you may be waking for other subjects within the department/meeting to occur. Either that or they just take a while. Admin at the end of semester can take a while.

This is a tad pathetic, I sat my exams 3 weeks ago, one of them was 60 computer marked multiple choice questions. They're sposed to be mailing results out in one weeks time.

I got ACCT1005 back (which was sat on the last day of exams) first and my mark seems ridiculously high

Marks are fitted to a bell curve so you may find that your unit may have been particularly difficult in this case.

is this for all units of study? and also does this mean that a certain percentage of people have to always fail?

Nope, they'll only scale the marks to meet a certain number of HDs, Ds and Cs. The number of passes and fails aren't adjusted directly per se.
