Hi there, i don't know if this is true, but I think I read once, that Paper 1 is used as a core basis to rank everyone off, because everyone has to do that exam. (Don't think ESL do that, do they?)

I'm pretty sure Paper 2 is worth more than Paper 1 as in 60% - 40%. But then again I did get that off my friend who can be an unreliable source of information lol.

ESL does another separate AOS paper which only has unseen texts and essay.

thought that paper 1 was worth 45/105 and paper 2 was worth 60/105? For our trials everything is equally weighted at 5%.

Paper 1 is the exam they use to gauge the performance and scale our entire year 12 cohort. Personally, I think it is more important as both standard and advanced students sit the paper, and advanced students are expected to have a greater depth and knowledge about bloody belonging.

http://secretsofhscsuccessrevealed.blogspot.com/2010/09/how-do-you-calculate-your-atar-part-1.html

"Technically, each subject is scaled not based on the difficulty of the subject, but on how well the candidature who take the subject does relative to your whole cohort (assuming that your whole cohort did the subject). Ever wonder why English is compulsory? It is used as a benchmark, from which all relative candidature performances are compared."
