wow, u've got some good memory here... my school didn't give us the Pasteur question, Idk why though... and do u remember the exact words of Glo Fish question.. bcs in my answer all I did was explain the process of producing a transgenic organism,.. but now thinking back, I should have written something more relevant to the question
It asked u to explain how microscopic changes caused macroscopic changes...something like that. i talked about trans~ species too!

The question was something like - "Explain how changes microscopically (to cells) results in macroscopic changes in organisms" - not really worded like that but something along those lines.
I did a similar thing to you, described the process of producing a transgenic organism - focussing on the technology e.g. Recombinant DNA technology, constantly linking it back to the GloFish and the example provided. I focussed on how the introduction was in the chromosomes so that it was then apart of the "microscopic", genetic material - and consequently resulted in the phenotype (macroscopic). Sumed it all up with a final linking sentence which hopefully linked my work back to the q - I too was abit worried by the wording of the q.

I used tomatoes aswell - why is this such a bad thing? The practical was testing if the lower the temperature of storage effected enzyme activity. So I suggested storing the tomato in different areas, slicing them up then placing them in testtubes where hydrogen peroxide was then added. And if there was a problem with using tomatoes i addressed this in my limitation - stating that the temperature of storage may not be indicative of the internal, enzyme X temperature.

Wait is the hydrogen peroxide in tomatoes? or did it say that Enzyme x found in tomatoes acts on the hydrogen perox?

Enzyme X is in tomatoes - hydrogen peroxide is the substrate that acts on the tomatoes.

Luckily, my school did a prac with liver and hydrogen peroxide so I knew the expected results. I'm preety sure measuring the resulting bubbles was the main way to determine enzyme activity.

Omg that's crazy!! That's exactly what I wrote like word for word. The people who are talking about water baths are wrong because it said the storage temp affected the enzyme reaction not the temperature the reaction occurs at.

You don't talk about vaccines/quarantine? It wanted the effect on genes if I remember correctly. And how we're limiting genetic diversity or something.. But vaccines/quarantine has nothing to do with altering the genes of a species, unless we're talking about different questions? Or I misread it (let's hope not.)
it actually said nothing about genes at all and if you read the question correctly it was simple blueprint an leaning towards in-depth search for better health. It said genetic diversity and that was it. Nothing about genes at all. Btw, you can day that genetic diversity is decreased because of the organisms population being decreased and only small amounts of resistant strains remaining.

it was the graph about whooping cough i couldnt decide between b and c
I put the one about incidence of disease increasing due to not vaccinating.

we didnt have them. i wanted a pedigree chart coz i understand very clearly, we didnt get one.
We had two in our amendments. :D

For anyone that did the communication option...for the question d)(ii) where it asked "with reference to the table, explain why all stimuli do not generate an action potential." how did you go about answering it? Cause I thought it was a misprint...shouldn't it have been "not all stimuli"?
no the wording is right. All stimuli do no generate a response only some do due to threshold.

I did mine about antibiotic resistance. Would I get marked down?

I did the previous year's CSSA mc yesterday as revision cause thats all i had time to do and they were way easier than this year's. not sure abt hsc.
Trials are always way harder than HSC though. They want to shock us into studying more.

Yeah im worried about losing my place too - i totally stuffed up my option.. probably ended up with maybe 85%+?
Have about a 7% buffer between myself and second so hopefully that will be enough =/
Yeah, around the same here. :/

For which question? If you mean the genetic diversity/treatments one then no you will get marks for that. That's what they wanted.
Oh good!
I did that~

What did you get for the red blood cells one (the MC)
was it 400/7 ? thats was i did

Was the first MC (a) or (c) ?
yea, it was 400/7 cus there were 7 cells on the field of view and if u read the question, it said that the length of the field of view was 400, therefore simple math :D

wat was the first mc question?

cant remember that far back
