Things like ( 1 + sinx )^5 and x^2logex confuse me on how to start.

I can differeniate everything besides ones involving trig and log. You do it the same way right? I just see these and think "Trig, log grr"

Any advice?

For x^2logex , that requires the product rule, due to the function having 2 Xs. u = x^2 , u' = 2x , v = lnx , v' = 1 / x

I'm assuming you know that Loge(x) is the same as writing ln(x)

take it from there. y' = vu' - uv'

For ( 1 + sin(x) )^5

you do 5cos(x)*( 1-sin(x) )^4

Chain rule.

using the function of a function rule. treat it as f'(x)*( 1+sin(x) )^f(x)
A few errors there Mr Brightside.

i.

The chain rule,

ii.

Using the product rule,

Quote my post and have a look at what I've typed in to fix it up. You have to have the [.tex] tags around what you want, without the full stop of course.

Using Latex:

Step 1. Click on the fx button when you are replying.

Step 2. Enter your equation.

Step 3. Copy and paste here.

Step 4. Add ["tex"] to the front of your equation and add ["/tex"] at the back of your equation. (No quotes.)

Haha, i meant when i press 'reply with quote' it only shows what he replied with, and not the quote of my original post which he fixed up.
But thanks :)

Okay human. If at any stage you want to sell your rabbit to me, I will kindly accept. Note: I prefer my bunnies with tomato sauce.
