Thanks, Looking at getting into UTS next year (got nominated by my school for some guaranteed entry thing?), need an atar of 87. So I guess as long as I don't back off in terms of effort I should be ok yes?

I reckon your heading to around a 90 ATAR.
But that estimation is on the basis that I have a VERY closely ranked school.
And on a yearly basis, not that many obtain band 6's.
But it all depends on your cohort. Is your grade a strong grade in comparison to previous years?
And how many 90+ ATARs does your school usually receive?
Albeit, 87+ should be quite achievable if you do well in your externals and maintain a high standard.

I think it depends a lot. My school is ranked in the bottom 50 coming from a rural area but i think according to my teachers that we have the strongest cohort going through for a out 20 years. Your Business Studies is totally up to you. Whatever you get in the HSC will basically be your mark. To be honest i think you have a high chance for getting about 95.

go on the atar calculator website :)

if you get a band 6 in at least two subjects, you're definitely heading for 90+. However the way you're going, i would say 95+ !

~90.

DON'T use ATAR calculators because you don't know what your HSC marks are going to look like.

If you have an idea of how you're comparing to last years cohort's marks and ranks and know what they got then by all means go ahead and use the calculator.

I thought you were Lolsmith for a second...

And dude, last year's cohorts marks may not be very accurate. Then you have to ask the question: "Am I a better student than this person?" for each subject and that presents its own problems.

Agreed. I remember my school used to give estimates based on past years marks, and they were really inaccurate when compared to the final results. When they did an estimate for my mate who was coming first in legal studies, they estimated that he would get 89. He ended up getting 96, as he was a real gun in the subject. If they had of estimated 2nd and 3rd in legal, they would have given them 86 and 85 respectively based on previous results. This would also have been inaccurate because they ended up with a final mark of 91 and 90.

Umm no. You ask the head of curriculum at your school for last years marks and ranks and talk about how they did and the teachers opinion on whether your cohort is better or worse and estimate from their. I've done this numerous times throughout the year so I know how I'm going and where to improve and it seems much more accurate than some of the ATAR estimates you and egloima-whatever the fuck their name is give out. Tbh Slyhunter was the best estimator and you guys are pretty shit and some of the advice you give is highly questionable.

All ATAR estimates are inaccurate in my opinion, even the ones given by your school. When you get given an estimate, its just a general idea on what you "might" get. For this reason, I never looked at the estimate my school gave me in year 12.

While that might work for your school, it doesn't work for schools outside say... the top 100.

If you have a better system going, great. Then you use that. You are under no obligation to get ATAR estimates here. And if you don't like our estimates - go PM slyhunter personally. Simple.
